And, dumb question I know, but how good do you need your lights to be?
Erm, yes, there should be parking - the question is do you want to find your car in the state you left it? Sorry Leith ... there are some really dodgy places around the wider area, and I can't help with identifying places where the kids hang out and those that are OK ... Maybe somebody from the northern end of Auld Reekie and Leith (@Scoosh,@goo_mason) can advise?

Lights - I'd advise front lights you can see by (including upcoming pot-holes, even though we try to choose good surfaces) while on unlit back roads during the darkest part of the night, with back-up lights for the the early and late part, as @Scoosh has already pointed out :okay:.
NO big flashing rear-lights that rob your fellow cyclists of their night vision :stop:, they will be confiscated and donated to good causes .

35 places gone so far, you might get away with waiting until the next payday, @Col5632 , but no guarantees given .

I got by with one cateye light last year, but I was sitting at the back most of the dark hours getting to know @edindave .

... and I had a decent light! It was a really enjoyable event.

To anyone doing it, I'd recommend taking an extra layer, even if the forecast is mild/dry. I found myself getting a bit cold due to the leisurely pace.

I'm disappointed that I can't make this event, but I can't do two weekends in a row and have a trip to Lewis the following weekend.

I got train to edinburgh and rolled down to start so no idea on parking sorry.

Plenty of free parking on the side streets adjacent to Leith Walk, and unless you're driving a Ferrari I wouldn't worry too much about parking the car there.

No bike today... jury service at the sheriff court this week, so will probably stick to a few evening rides - Also, I had work this morning as it's a 2pm start for the court today, but it was tipping it down so I wimped out thought better of it!
They must be trialling some big shot, I finished early today, there was a platoon of police on motorbikes at the Glasgow Green near the court entrance.

No I have an app for it

Two days attending court and so far almost nothing has happened... just a sort of run through of the general process on the first day, then got sent away after 45 minutes as the case had been 'delayed'. Today, it was another 2 p.m start, and they announced the cases that were due to start today had been resolved without the need for a jury - presumably they changed their pleas to guilty and we were sent away after 10 minutes. Early start on Wednesday, so maybe something will actually happen, who knows?!
