Being a bit 'more mature' a lot older than some of the kids :giggle: on here, I'd go for this option, as it will encourage you when you manage a particular hill, be better for your knees and give you the mojo to try more of them thar hills. ^_^
You're going to post your comp pic of Arran last year again, aren't you?
Wha' ? ... no, never crossed my mind ...

Oh well, feck this I'm off!
I have taken 2 weeks holiday as I normally do at this time of year. Usually it means reasonable weather and not too busy as schools are still in. I was looking forward to a couple of weeks covering some good Scottish cycling routes which are on my "to do" list. So I checked the forecast ..... yet more rain, wind, and temperatures struggling to reach 12C for the next 10 days at least . Sorry if it's another whinge about our weather @Mad Doug Biker , but it just seems to get worse as the years go by. The wind hasn't let up since about October, bar one week in April. Can't remember the last time we had 2 dry days in a row here, and 12C maximum in the middle of May - WTF? :cold:

I know it might not be a lot better, but I am putting a bike in the back of the car and heading south. Ferry to France on Tuesday morning and will start with some exploration around the Somme. At least by taking the car it gives me the flexibility to move about if the weather doesn't suit! Could have gone to Majorca for less £££ but not overly keen on flying these days. Au revoir Ecosse for a wee while .

last time I was in Scotland at the end of May I had snow in the valley bottom and enough snow on the tops for people to be out ski-ing. Birds that would normally have been feeding on the moors were down on the glen floor which was great because we got to see some really rare birds, very close up.

Definitely sounds the best option with the long term forecast here. Hope you have fun. :hello:
