@kipster is there a spare ferry ticket floating around?

If there is - and no one else claims it - can Monte make use of it if he comes with me?

If not, I'm sure he'll be able to get a foot passenger ticket on the day though

I AM worried my back, neck and shoulder won't take kindly to the aggressive geometry of my new bike so I may just rein my speed in a bit....

No no, that would be the exact opposite of what you should do, aggressive geometry requires high speeds so that the wind on your chest supports you a little and takes the weight off your wrists. Riding a sporty bike slowly is agony, you should make sure you never drop below about 20 mph! ;)

I've heard that deep section carbon wheels also help maintain the 20mph+ rule, along with a 55t chainring and nothing bigger than 25t at the back.

Change names and this will be me Saturday night when I get home. My Halfords special will be mocked by you lot and I'll cry like a baby  I have no power meter, no gps, no fancy bits.... If I'm slow it's not me but my turbo trainer.... I mean bike
My whippet like son regulary puts me to shame on his alloy £1300 Specialized Allez while im on my lightweight carbon. I can beat him hands down on distance, but short sharp climbs are all his.

No gps, no problem, here you go:

Cost less than £1000 :okay: got it in a Halfords sale for just under £600  A whole bike for less than cost of a Di2 gear set up
Nothing wrong with that. The bike I've been riding until very recently cost a similar amount to that and has been fantastic. I love my new bike but the improvements are subtle rather than life-changing, and a few years ago when I started riding a road bike I don't think I'd have appreciated those improvements in the way I do now anyway (with the exception of disc brakes - wish I had them years ago!)
