Haha I love it!

Still a week to go and the thread has already descended into a mix of goading, excuses and declarations of not intending to race while reminding others of past defeats! And sometimes all in the same post :laugh:!

:smooch::boxing::smooch::boxing::cheers:!
I won't be able to race without the on/off remote control :whistle:

In all seriousness, i did my back in last night in the early hours. Wife fell out of bed and I had to pick her up. Tweaked my back. Took some painkillers today so hopefully be OK by next Saturday :B)

Due to a lack of free time at the weekend (two football - playing boys!) the main thing my cycling lacks is longer rides. So it was good to get out and do a 50 miler this morning to see how the new bike felt after a bit longer in the saddle - in preparation for the IOW!

Glad to say it still felt very comfortable - really looking forward to next week now!

P.S it's definitely a race, right?!

not wanting to get excuses in early but i have received a blow to the noggin you know

Well, Bridgy will be along soon enough if I use the K word, TT' s nabbed the shoulder excuse so what am I left with other than old age?!? I have to say I AM worried my back, neck and shoulder won't take kindly to the aggressive geometry of my new bike so I may just rein my speed in a bit....

@bridgy

its starting to sound like a race to the excuses....

All I got is that I had a saddle sore a month ago, I crashed three weeks ago and had road rash, but all that has cleared up. I wont have my light weight summer bike, and I've only got a max 27 cog on the back. That's about the best I can do.

I really am going to have to put some serious thoughts to my excuses....

So far I think I have subtley included "don't often do long rides", and "new bike might be uncomfortable". I am aware these are weak and need some work... ^_^

Well so far I've only mentioned my dodgy shoulder once so I think we both have a fair way to go before we catch up with:

Whorty: asthma, lack of real world cycling, and just broken his back catching his missus from a fall!

Andy: just come back from scaling Everest and has a 200kg weight disadvantage according to him!

Bob: new bike plus old and generally falling apart at the seams!

And Lee: just survived a major road accident!

Did I miss anything out? To be fair both kipster and Breedon have kept their dignity so far. But it is still only Sunday night... :laugh:

in all fairness @Breedon is keeping his cards very close to his chest
worryingly so
we might have a hustler in our midst
I reckon @Breedon is having panic attacks at the thought of having to ride with @TurboTommy again and doing 20 more miles than the rest of us :tongue: Being a nice chap he's probably trying to think of a gentle way to let Tommy down and say he'd rather stick with someone who has a reliable GPS :biggrin:
