As an aside.............a couple of years ago I was getting changed in the locker room ready to leave my gym, it's an independent one, closes at 4pm on a Sunday. I hears a"psst" behind me, it was a naked guy leaning out from the sauna door, he'd lost his car/locker keys through the gaps in the wooden slats on which he was laying down in the the sauna, I said I'd get help from the desk upstairs.

After changing and going upstairs to the exit I noticed an old Colnago steel bike in the reception next to my manky hybrid, it must have been the trainers bike, the only staff member left. I didn't know he cycled, I complimented him on the bike and we got talking.......and talking..........and he locked up and I forgot all about the bloke in the sauna. :okay:

I mentioned it to one of the staff about my lock in. She didn't know about it and neither did the other staff members i saw. We all kind of saw the funny side so no harm done. Though they did flip the lights as i was in the shower again, which caused me to panic a bit,but this time they came back on. Anyway, back on track about gyms. After using the static bikes and the stair/escalator machine thingy i've been taking interest in the power meter readings. I've found that having the resistance on the bikes on at number 15 out of a possible 40 gives me an average power of around 110 watts. I'm presuming the higher it is the better it is for you? Yet the climbing machine records around 198 watts of power. So that must mean that the 'escalator' is better for you than the bikes? I do an hour on the bikes(one standard the other recumbent),but only around 20 mins of the escalator. The others i've spoken to say they find the stepping/escalator machine by far the hardest and like me the rowing machines the easiest. Those cross trainers are also good. I've seen people using them in the past and thought how daft are they, but i find them quite easy yet they certainly get the heart pumping. I have the cross trainer on at full resistance(no 25) most of the time as i find low resistance makes it a bit harder to balance and i do like to grind rather than quick step.

Your stepping would come from years of climbing the ladders, glad that you are enjoying the gym.

And walking the hills around here. I used to put daughter in one of those framed rucksack/baby carriers and walk miles with her on my back, then when she got too big i'd put weights in it instead of her. Daft i know, but it did the job.

Some observations from the gym for you to mull over. I went in today to find parts of the floor pissed wet through. The assistant mopping the floor had gone round mopping what i presume are sweaty bits on the floor. I don't think he's been told yet that you have to wring mops out before mopping up. There wasn't a yellow warning sign usually put down to warn of slippery floors either. Then how about this! Yesterday i walked down the stairs to the reception to find a female assistant jumping off the lap/knee of a male member of staff as they saw me approaching. Canoodling while on duty indeed! It's a bit like a Carry On film in there. I think the place kind of runs itself.
Now for the serious bit. The pool won't be available again for 4 to 6 weeks, but not only that, the whole place shuts for 9 long days over the Christmas period! Yes we can use the sports centre in Accrington, but that's 3 miles away. So i've paid for the use of the gym and pool up till the middle of next January.but there's no pool for a month or so and the place is shut completely for a period which i've paid for! I can't say i'm happy about that!:headshake:

Seek legal advice and get a refund. How much will they owe you for those 9 days?

BTW, you should have gone down on the floor and claimed compo. With regards to the canoodling, demand they compensate you by working right through the Christmas period for you or else you'll grass them up.
