Only open a few days after a long 10 days shut and the staff in my local council run gym are already showing signs of fatigue! It must be difficult sitting behind a desk playing games on the computer,or gawping at their phones all day (sometimes there's four of them doing this). I went in yesterday at 1.30pm and was met by the 'aerobics instructor' sat behind the desk with his arms behind his head yawning widely. He said to me "You do know we close at 3 don't you"?! Hum,whatever happened to "Hello, nice to see you paying customer who keeps me in a job"?. Not just me but others feel the same way. I mentioned this to a woman in the gym who said she just comes in,keeps herself to herself and leaves, not interacting with the staff. It shouldn't be like that! On the walls they have posters saying "Our professional staff are here to gladly help you and regard all our customers as important" blah blah.
Another woman i spoke to (aged 63) told me she's not going there again as she thinks they're patronising to anyone 'getting on a bit'. Not only this, but the male changing area is now 'unisex' as the female changing area is temporarily shut for 'maintenance'. So we now have a situation where i could be having a shower and females walk in!! To add to all this, the swimming pool has been shut for 2 months and will be till March at the earliest, due to a leaking pipe under the pool. Makes me wonder what/i'm paying for??!! Rant over!!!
