Yes,that's why i'm on JSA. Just thought i'd let you know while we're on the subject that i've done my fair share of work and that includes while having chemo' and radiotherapy. Hard work as well, not tapping computer keys or pushing a pen around.

You may not know how hard non manual work is until you try it. Manual work is a doddle compared with many non manual one's.
I thought @screenman meant those who don't work with manuals - which is sort of me caus I never look at the manual until I'm stuck
And then you work with manuals.

Just got back from 'the baths'. I thought i'd just dive in and knock out 40 lengths. Noooo way!! I climbed in and found the water :cold:. It took about 3 minutes before i could go below waist height. Then when i lunged forward i was overwhelmed by the waves. I thought i was drowning at one point! I did one length, then another, then another till after 50 minutes i managed to do a poxy 20 lengths. Seeing as i haven't swam a stroke in 26 years i suppose my expectations were a little ambitious. Next time i'll try and do 25 lengths, but this time not just one at a time.

You big jessie, in the old days window cleaners used to climb up ladders in knee deep snow before knocking the ice off the windows with their bare hands.

Cold, you don't know you're born.

Sounds like you are enjoying the gym which is great. Good to get a change of scene and have some varied activities to undertake. Swiming is hard when you haven't done it for a while. Stick at it and you will soon improve.

Well i've used the gym i joined for 11 days on the trot now. Someone said to me yesterday 'Are you here again? You'll be bringing your bed down next'. I t's a bit like that advert where you see the bloke cutting his garden hedge wearing an 18th century fancy dress dandy suit, where it says words like "Do you like to get your monies worth"? Well yes i do, I've paid for it and i'm definitely going to use it! Seriously though,i think i'm over doing it. I was going to have a day off today as the place is only open till mid-day on Sundays, but as i post i'm knocking back my toast and coffee ready for another grueling session. I woke up today feeling like i'd fallen down the stairs after drinking about 15 pints! My body aches all over,it's very similar to having a heavy cold and a hangover combined. I know we should have days off to let the body recover, but it's becoming an obsession. I start off doing about 40 minutes aerobic exercise on the static bike, the stepping/escalator type machine, the treadmill(which i nearly came off the other day),the rowing machine, then the cross trainer. Then i do some not too heavy weights, but hey i've already noticed a difference in my thighs, especially the front of them. I was in there for 2 hours 45 minutes on Wednesday, then i did 40 lengths of the baths afterwards. On Friday i managed to swim 50 lengths which i was very pleased about. So yes,it's a new adventure which i'm enjoying very much!

Does not sound to much to me Accy.

What. You mean i'm not overdoing it? I did 90 minutes this morning and although i feel rough before i go,i always feel good when i've done my aerobic warm ups and even better when i've finished. One thing that is annoying me though! Why some have to crash weights down and not let them down gently i don't know! One bloke this morning was dropping the things and making an awful racket!!:cursing:
