Mrs Gunk and I spent a very pleasant afternoon just tidying up, now enjoying a cheeky glass of Rose.

After 3 years of weeding gravel footpaths we've decided it's time we take the nuclear option! So we're planning on digging up small, manageable sections, laying weed control sheets down and then regravelling. Possibly woodchip, but probably better with gravel.

Now it's a question of how deep do we dig and can we sieve the existing gravel out to reuse as much as possible. I don't think it was deep enough so whatever we will need to buy gravel. How deep should the gravel be over the sheets?

This is going to be a lot of work so we're planning on doing a little bit at a time. We can take our time I reckon.

Just use a good weedkiller,I wouldn't be faffing about with all that.

I've been toying with the idea of putting some lighting in on my maples.

Really like the look of that

The kits were from Home Bargains, only a fiver.

We've had 2 so far this year! But plenty to come

We've had two wild or alpine strawberries, I think they're called. Our proper strawberries are growing plentiful but they're nowhere near ready to pick. As evidenced by them still being there. Birds eat them before they're ready, half unripe. So basically before we would pick them. Blackbirds! They guard the patch so I know it's blackbirds.

Blackbirds! I have been to the supermarket this morning solely because I'd run out of sultanas to feed them. They come to the door begging so I put food out, the starlings arrive and the blackbirds retreat, so don't get anything. I have to try to distract the starlings in another direction with mealworms.
