The joys of running a fleet 😎 Part of the reason I got shot of some ‘exotica’ from mine. Soon became a lifestyle - not a supposed fun and hobby vehicle !

Won't be buying a VW/Audi cars given the 'issues' my son and his mates have with them, including 'coded' parts. This also includes VW commercial vehicles - my lad had caddies and transporters and the trouble they had with them.

Ad Blue systems seem to break regular !

Sticking with Toyota and Nissan as they don't break in silly and costly ways.

TBF though that should just about be it for the year & it's a lot less than if I was paying somebody to do it

We had (yet another) smart meter fitter visit recently. The guy doing the job knew his stuff more than the previous fitter, and got it working in little time. I guess he was happy to stall a little as the job was quicker than expected, and he told us about the electric van he was using. I didn't enquire (or look to see) what manufacturer, but he said they had several of them on the fleet 'to meet the emission targets'. In a day's work it needs charging causing issues with scheduling as the drivers have to find a charging point and stop for an hour. He said in the cold weather the electric vans are a real big problem as the range and rate of charge suffer considerably.

Maintenance engineer I work for has one to get around their work plant. Renault something or other on about a 19 plate.

Sometimes he can get a range of upto 150 miles fully charged. In the coldest of this past winter - one day it showed just 65 miles after a full charge 😳

Christ, what do they do to them? We're on our 3rd e-car of different makes and 3 or 4% loss is the normal on the frostiest of days (the computer says more, but the reality is different.)

They sit outside the houses or on the street around the corner with the heating on full, just like they used to do with the ICE vans with the engines running

Mrs D heads out in the morning to her preheated car and drives straight off. The dino drivers like me spend ages with the engine running and wielding the ice scraper before we can move off.

She is blind in one eye and as a consequence has no depth perception, so was finding it increasingly harder as time went by to park the damn thing.

Consequently, she's downsized to a spangly new Mini Cooper S-3 Electric which she adores, and I went from carless to the 2008 for very occasional long journeys, shifting all three of us plus the dog, the sort of thing one can't reasonably do in a Mini.

Well that is both of your mistakes there, don't go out & you don't have to do any of that stuff
