Or do what I do, leave the car on the drive covered in ice, and ride to work. Shock horror.

Bet @Drago is one of those retired crinkles who has all the time in the world but then uses Google to see when the busiest time is in a shop to make sure that's when they go to create the most nuisance of themselves as they can :laugh:

Won't be buying a VW/Audi cars given the 'issues' my son and his mates have with them, including 'coded' parts. This also includes VW commercial vehicles - my lad had caddies and transporters and the trouble they had with them.

Ad Blue systems seem to break regular !

Sticking with Toyota and Nissan as they don't break in silly and costly ways.

Funny that our two VW have been pain free unlike mini and ford transit!

Yes it's funny isn't it, I ran Citroens for about 20 years, BX's, Xantia, C5 all with the wonderful hyrdo suspension, others hated it, the 1.9TD engine was one of the best made, kids had AX's again never an issue. Although I do have an affinity with Japanese cars now, they to me are on a better level.

Citroen 1.9 tdi a proper diesel with none of those pesky electrics to go wrong. Stopping it running could be a problem though only cutting the fuel off would stop it. Both my BX and ZK were wonderful comfy never go wrong cars diy simple too.

My one and only VW had a history of ABS and brake failure warning lights, and then finally self immolated like a Buddhist peace protester just shy of 10 months old.

Since then I've owned Bimmers, Ford's, Porsche, Lancia, Vauxhall, Nissan, Pugs, Smarts, all sorts short of a Trabant, always bought carefully and maintained them diligently and I've not had a moments bother with any of them. When it comes to purchase and maintenance of used cars you make your own luck.

It's true we have the Shogun, it's a thirsty devil of the dinosaur juice, but it's a thing of purpose, it was bought to do a specific job, pull a trailer full of horse shoot & pull a trailer with a horse shoot making machine ensconced, being there & available in the event of emergency dash to the vet.

It's a MK3 which had I known about the horror stories before I wouldn't have bought, but it gets the love & attention just like the others, so far so good not had a problem with it.

Just as I was going to to get tyres put on the Rav a courier arrived with a heavy box, looking inside it was the Rev front discs. When I got back I thought I'd change them, jacked up, pulled off the wheels, bolts out of caliber & pulled the pads, thought I'd check at this point whether they'd sent the right discs & pads, only to find there was no pads. Checked the order & although ordered from the same place they were being sent in a separate box even though they would have easily fit in this one. Put all back together, maybe tomorrow.
