Are we being forced to go electric?

Where are we with synthetic fuel ? I’ve heard it’s about twice the price per litre as normal fuel ? So not viable right now .

That's great if your solar array has completed it's long payback period (10-15 years?).
Otherwise the energy isn't free.

Anyway, the running costs of an EV are cheap, so solar can't make a large difference.
The problem with the costs I presented earlier were the expensive lease, which came to a massive £800 a month for 4 years.

Seems that lease plans are expensive, but clearly some more than others. Avoiding overpriced marques is a good idea.

Assuming you don't move into a house with them already and take over the FiT which pays better than the SEG. Indeed with new build houses increasingly having them built in from the start there's more people with them now than ever before.

In our case it is a good thing since my partner works from home so we use the electricity we generate. If we had an EV it would be at home during the day charging from solar but we'd still be getting paid for half the generation capacity of our system. If we had to install I don't think it would happen until they become cheaper and we'd get batteries too. It does seem that solar panel systems come in cheaper in other countries such add USA. I guess economy of scale?

I don't think lease plans are ever a good idea. If you can't afford to buy then wait until you can imho.

I saw Carwow"s drag race where 3 of the fastest latest supercars lined up.
Ferrari SF90, Porsche 911 turbo and Tesla S Plaid.

Weighing almost 600kg more than the Ferrari, heaviest vehicle there, Plaid wiped the floor with both of them once it's tyres had warmed up after the first run.
So it was only fastest at the 2nd attempt? ^_^

What are motorcycle fans going to do post 2030?

Most drive them for the noise and fun of it, I cannot see electric bikes being too popular??🤔🤔

If as has been said on here, electric cars are cheaper to run, why are some private hire/taxi drivers now charging/trying to charge an electric premium on their fares?

LEZ's/ULEZ's don't really cover being asked for a third more.

By using an EV instead of a polluting ICE. Some folk are more than happy to pay for clean air

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...

Blatant profiteering?

People pay more for a renewable energy tariff. I'm happy to do so.

Again, in a cost of living crisis for some , that’s a minority view I’d say ! Funny enough I live in part of the UK that has a lot of renewables energy , it seems I’m paying a lot more for that by default !
