It gets even better if you have solar panels. My car's been running in sunshine almost the whole week.
That's great if your solar array has completed it's long payback period (10-15 years?).
Otherwise the energy isn't free.

Anyway, the running costs of an EV are cheap, so solar can't make a large difference.
The problem with the costs I presented earlier were the expensive lease, which came to a massive £800 a month for 4 years.

Seems that lease plans are expensive, but clearly some more than others. Avoiding overpriced marques is a good idea.

About five years ago I looked at EV ownership and saw at the time reviews of the BMW i3 with a 600cc motorcycle engine that cut in when battery was low and charged it up. The car was sold as BMW i3 Range Extender and watching YouTube videos from America it certainly ticked all the boxes for owning one. I requested a brochure but was surprised that this model had been dropped. There is a couple I see regularly around Derby they look very practical.

I'm looking at various kits available for the classic Mini. Prices are very high presently, so I might do a restoration of my Mini and see if the kit prices move downwards once these companies start selling a few kits.

I see one of those most days as someone local must have it. I always liked the look of it.

Saw one on my google feed recently It included battery, motor and all inverter gubbins, supplied in a new subframe for simple installation. Think it was circa £13-15K.

Would be fun, if the rest of the bodywork was good, or as part of a larger restoration.
Apparently ev conversions still get charged for things like ulez.

Would a Nissan leaf running gear not work. I guess the controllers would need work, which unless your geeky with time ain't going to happen!

Tesla will be introducing a 48 Volt low voltage system to their vehicles going forward. Replacing the standard 12V system. This is to significantly reduce the size and amount of copper on each car loom.

I saw Carwow"s drag race where 3 of the fastest latest supercars lined up.
Ferrari SF90, Porsche 911 turbo and Tesla S Plaid.

Weighing almost 600kg more than the Ferrari, heaviest vehicle there, Plaid wiped the floor with both of them once it's tyres had warmed up after the first run.
