How many people are bothered about drag races though?
Maybe it's just me but dazzling acceleration doesn't bother me a jot.
Same with top speeds. So what ?

Not really it the scheme of things. It does show the prowess of electric drive train, which gets the attention of folk.

Real daily driving is where its at, but people cant relate to that.

If you show them an EV streaking away from a similar sized ICE car, then they understand.

I'm far more interested in the value. According to my podpoint I've spent about sixteen quid for 1000 miles worth of electric in the last month. I'm not sure how much that would have been if it were petrol but I know it's a lot more.

Working on petrol ave price £1.40 per litre, 1000 miles covered

Car with an economy of

50mpg........£127
35mpg........£177
30mpg........£209
25mpg........£254

Absolutely massive savings you're making :okay:

Goes a long way in offsetting the purchase or leasing cost. Savings get even larger if you are doing more miles.

can you work out how long it would be to offset say the cost of a £15k new car doing around 4000 miles a year against the cost of an e car , i will plump for a e corsa at £34k as an example .
My brain hurts with the math

Well a new Petrol Corsa starts at £19K, not £15K. And it has a claimed mpg of 51 (combined) for that model.

So you are saving £127 per 1000 miles, just over £500 per year if you are only doing 4K miles per year. Which means 30 years to save the £15K price difference on fuel costs alone.

My EV was 18k at two years old.

But what about the cost of all the cups of coffee you'll be buying at motorway services while you wait for your EV to charge - or wait for a charger to become available? ^_^

Imagine the size of the heap of toxic chemicals you could see if all the waste produced from a life driving ICE was in one place.

The Porsche is last in both runs. It;s very close between the Tesla and the Ferarri on the first run, but on the second, the acceleration on the Tesla is phenomenal. The Ferrari starts to catch up at faster speeds. This is two pure sports cars against a large luxury sized saloon car with all mod cons.

Here's the vid:-

And all three are an environmental disaster. Fuel (excessive via fuel or electric), tyre debris etc etc. And one of them sounds like a washing machine !
