That’s ok once there are only EVs… I guess the solution to make people share is penalty charging after a certain time period, however long it takes to charge.
Don’t think it’s been thought through at all well for people who don’t have OSP, I assume all of the EV owners on this forum do which is telling
Most supermarkets have a limited period you can stay whether you are charging a car or not. Some council car parks were free while charging but now they are usually the same for all users. Many people would only need to charge a couple of times a week so while a home option would be useful it is not essential. My son is on a prepayment meter so has to use public charge points and finds it ok.
The lamp post and guttering option across a path works well if the supply is of sufficient capacity. The major limiting factor is getting regional electric companies and the grid to do the installs.
As might be expected the government has mismanaged the roll out of charge points and the quasi market doesn’t really allow intervention. The levelling up fund has given money to local authorities to match investments by charge point operators, but only the big outfits often backed by the oil companies can afford the capital. Roll out is happening, but in a faux market based haphazard way in line with conservative philosophy, rather than the more considered way of the Norwegians.
