At the risk of going off-topic a friend of mine recalls an her little sister going to a classmate's birthday party. The classmate was then told "not to invite 'her kind' again". Having frizzy hair was seemingly enough for a white girl to be a victim of racism. She though it was anti-black racism rather than anti-semitism; being half-Jewish the latter might at least have been valid labelling though no less contemptable. This was America. I've no reason to doubt the story.
Real Story
When my brother was 5 or 6 he had a Birthday Party and half way someone noticed that the budgie was no longer sitting on outs perch, but lying on the bottom of its cage.
My mother being the practical type organised an improptu funeral for the poor thing
There are still some friends who remember this 40 years later as the party where they buried the budgie
