46:39 on stage 6 for me @peterob. I was in about 30th place after the first hill and tried getting the small group of 7/8 riders to work together...I did a30second pull on the front to set a good example and then proceeded to get caught out by the draft effect and was shelled out the back immediately :headshake: Had to wait for a small chase group behind. I reckon that cost me 50seconds based on the times of the riders I was with after lap 1. Live and learn I guess.

That was a warm ride! The towel on the bars was heavy with sweat, and there was literally a puddle under the bike. I've never sweated so much riding before, but I couldn't bail a second time. I lost over a kg in weight on that ride (don't worry Bob, I won't change my weight to my post ride weight as I've de-pruned myself since )

I didn't go out too hard today, tried to keep it steady and HR below 170. First lap (once we'd dropped the bloody riders who shoot off fast and then die after 2 minutes forcing you to push through their sticky draft!!!!) I was in a large group and sat in there. Every now and then I'd end up with my nose out front, usually on the -ve gradients, so I had a feeling I was heavier than most in the group and would get dropped on the climbs.

First lap climbs I worked quite hard but tried not to go in the red. I was looking at riders around me for who I could join with over the top. Ended up just the 5 of us initially, but we were all happy taking turns to pull. On the flats, parallel to the sprint banner, I could see a large group chasing us down (a few guys at the front pushing big watts) so I called out to the other 4 to rest a minute and latch on to the chasers. They caught us about 30 secs later, but this gave me enough breather to get on the wheels. The group was now about 12 strong and moving well - I was trying to sit in and get a free ride  We swallowed up a few riders as we progressed, and about 2km short of the KoMs a large group caught us and increased our speed.

I gave the last 3 climbs everything, leaving nothing on the road. Ended up with a PB on lap 1 (24:01) and lap 2 (25:19).

@peterob stage 6 time of 50:11 :wahhey: Quite chuffed with that.

Well done👍

I know you jest about the weight thing but when things are so close between CC’ers In various categories 2-5 kilos makes enough difference to affect the results. On Zunr we used to have a weekly weigh in when we’re all racing together AND trying to lose weight. It sounds serious but it wasn’t. I am not suggesting we do it here. Trust is everything. We will see each other at various points this year and if someone is taking the Micky we will all soon find out. Yes Lee, I am calling you out👍

I too noticed this, if you end up in front of your pack, the pack can swallow you up, spit you out in a few seconds. The draft is difficult to manage, doesn't promote anyone to try too hard to pull the group along. I wish it had a more realistic feel

Weight is a major difference when we are all so close , we all meet up every now and then and things all makes sense
I couldn’t see the point of putting a false weight in just to beat another ageing online gent especially if I was to meet him sometime and get found out

Regarding the weight doping. I don’t know what to say that hasn’t been said really...

Maybe it comes down to that debate about how much people care? For example I care enough to try to push myself to my limit when I race. But I don’t care enough to bore my family with the details when we’re sat around the dining room table. The result of a race just doesn’t effect me that much either way to try and mess with it.

Sorry to say this but I kind of miss bkool. The power reading was so random I don’t think it would occur to anyone to meddle with their weight 😁. Just seemed way less serious over there.

I watched your ride today and thought it was very similar to mine yesterday on the flats.

I can see where I lost time yesterday on the climbs. I said my power was well down on the climbs and that's where the difference between us was.

I lost 1.26 to you on the combined 3 climbs Strava segments and came in 1.25 behind you. Pretty much the reverse of our rides in Innsbruck.

I think I was spinning too much in a lower gear trying to conserve energy on the climbs but that backfired!

Great ride by you, especially considering you had no fan! :notworthy:
