I'm really looking forward to this event, and hoping to get there in good enough shape to set a PB.

It's a 70 mile circuit, and I've done it twice before. The first time took me 5h 39m moving time in awful weather. The second time was 5h 05m in beautiful spring sunshine. I will be disappointed not to get under 5h this time around. Would love to get to 4h 30m which would be an average speed just over 15mph.

Let me know if anyone else signs up - could meet for breakfast before the ferry, or at least a coffee and a chat on the ferry

I did enjoy going around IOW with CCers

But, but

it clashes with TdY Sportive on the same day:sad:

I'd really like to join you but I will have to see nearer the time if I'll be able to make it - not possible as things stand but that might change...

I did this several times in the pre strava days but have just looked and the last time I did it was on my own in 2014. Moving time that day was 4 hours 52.

It's a lovely, chilled out -and free - event which I'd love to do again some time. Hope you enjoy and have good weather - and I'll let you know if my circumstances allow me to join you!

50:25 for Stage 6 nothing left at the end, couldn't even stand up and sprint :B)

I was watching your first lap Dean. You were bang on mine and Carl's split time.

What's this standing up for sprinting.
It's a bit of a deceptive course, requiring a sustainable effort on the flat followed by 3 bumps, which take it out of you. Then repeat:biggrin:

When i did my stage-6 ride i noticed that my fan didn't cool me at all, it was more like a riding in a warm tropical atmosphere. Tomorrow rest day comes in a right time. I have a six days of a hard rides behind, some of them on Trainerroad and few rides on Zwift without rest. It's a miracle that i manage ride under 1-hour today.

If anyone has a family that are interested in their online exploits then fair do’s. But it’s fair to say my other half doesn’t fall into that camp! It does have its upsides though. For starters she wouldn’t know one of my bikes from another

Which leads us neatly on to my own weight loss project 😄

Zipp 404 tubular wheelset with Vitoria corsa G+ tyres (+tub tape).

2114kg. Lovely wheel set. Nice wide rims that fit a 25mm tub perfectly and very comfy as well as stiff. As well as making a loverly whoosh noise! Seems heavy! I don’t heave a weight without the tubs on unfortunately. You may have noticed the wheel has a cassette attached that I didn’t really want to remove. But I did have another ultegra 11-28 cassette to hand that I weighed and then subtracted to give the above total.

Lightweight meilenstein 24E Schwartz edition with veloflex tubs (+tub tape)

(The Schwartz bit refers to the fact it has ceramic bearings. The 24 refers to the rim width. 1730g. (From memory the wheels without tubs were well under 1100g but I can’t find the record from when I originally weighed them. They’re just one of those things to put a goofy grin on your face. They split opinion I guess. But I love them.

Tune ti skewers 42g

There is a compromise with ti skewers. Some of them don’t tighten very well and sometimes they squeak a little too. But these ones have been ok generally so far. I said generally lee before you say anything!

So.... tonight’s grams weight loss total is.... 429g!

Still awake? 😄 Hopefully more next weekend.
How much for the carpet mate it looks proper quality 😂

Indeed, studies (and logic) shows that, run at the same pressure, a 28mm tyre has a shorter contact patch and has to deflect and reform less than an otherwise identical 23mm tyre. Plus it will perform better on poor road surfaces. ... For most riders a wider, but still lightweight tyre will be faster and more comfortable.

After i see Tommy's "toys" it make me thing that Zwift needs badly update where you can build your custom bike without limits instead of what is available in drop shop.
Veloton beta will be out soon. Then they will eventually have that feature. We can race with real simulated tactics & steering then too.

same as andy in signed up to do the Yorkshire ride or I’d try and make it down. I’d definitely be up for doing it again another year.
