Aero? Isn’t the key to optimise yourself first? Get a bike fit, get flexible enough to go lowish, clothing, helmet, perhaps some narrower bars THEN look at wheels, tyres etcIts all cheaper and easier to get big gains before delving into the murky world of manufacturers claims. There was a good gnc vid about this a few years ago. Once you have optimised yourself then you might get another km an hour from decent aero wheel/tyre combo.
I admit, it sounds that we take cycling more serious than pro riders

Rider equates by far the biggest element of drag.

Yes. No one has suggested otherwise

Curious how you managed to go only 3 seconds slower than me, yet having an avg. wkg 14-15% less?

Is it your height and/or weight giving you the advantage?
Probably related to the 'blob' speed - I was in a big group, maybe 30 strong, up to the hills. I didn't put my nose in front, so was able to hold a lower wattage compared to the chaps pulling at the front ^_^

Gotta love Cyclechat. I’ve not seen this much back tracking since Michael Jackson stopped doing the moon walk!

Are we talking virtual or real ?

I found that a lot tougher then I was expecting. I genuinely thought that stage was pan flat. Should of paid more attention to the comments from you guys.... I was licking my lips to be honest 😄. Then I turn a corner and get slapped in the face by a big hill! Twice !!

Seems I may have inadvertently motivated the whippet too as he pipped next by a few seconds (but whose counting👍 ^_^)

I’m hoping the final stage comes around quickly. Milzy managed to lose 3kg in 7 days by the looks of it so he’s like a ticking weight bomb! Another week like that and I’m done for. But we might be able to rope Bob geldof into starting a charity appeal for him!

I saw the word Bob and panicked😁

I might have to raise my weight to 73 kilos. Eating to train as recommended by my guy means my weight might be creeping up. Plus the rowing might be adding some muscle mass to my pathetic upper body 😁. I am very envious of milzy and anyone else who is dropping weight. Honestly, how you guys doing it and getting stronger? Help an old man with some advice.

Had a go at stage 6 today. Shouldn’t have done given supposed to be doing 1 1/2 hrs at just under ftp. Oh well. Decent time for first lap But hrm stopped and wondered if ride would count but even if it would have legs were tight and so decided to bail. Training Plan takes precedence. That’s my excuse 😁

Oh Carl that was close. Deserved winner of league C :okay:
That was a warm ride! The towel on the bars was heavy with sweat, and there was literally a puddle under the bike. I've never sweated so much riding before, but I couldn't bail a second time. I lost over a kg in weight on that ride (don't worry Bob, I won't change my weight to my post ride weight as I've de-pruned myself since )

I didn't go out too hard today, tried to keep it steady and HR below 170. First lap (once we'd dropped the bloody riders who shoot off fast and then die after 2 minutes forcing you to push through their sticky draft!!!!) I was in a large group and sat in there. Every now and then I'd end up with my nose out front, usually on the -ve gradients, so I had a feeling I was heavier than most in the group and would get dropped on the climbs.

First lap climbs I worked quite hard but tried not to go in the red. I was looking at riders around me for who I could join with over the top. Ended up just the 5 of us initially, but we were all happy taking turns to pull. On the flats, parallel to the sprint banner, I could see a large group chasing us down (a few guys at the front pushing big watts) so I called out to the other 4 to rest a minute and latch on to the chasers. They caught us about 30 secs later, but this gave me enough breather to get on the wheels. The group was now about 12 strong and moving well - I was trying to sit in and get a free ride  We swallowed up a few riders as we progressed, and about 2km short of the KoMs a large group caught us and increased our speed.

I gave the last 3 climbs everything, leaving nothing on the road. Ended up with a PB on lap 1 (24:01) and lap 2 (25:19).

@peterob stage 6 time of 50:11 :wahhey: Quite chuffed with that.
