Stupid question, but where does this put me then ... C or B ? I ride C currently as my w/kg is below 3.2 (with upgraded FTP yesterday to 257 my new w/kg is 3.08). My ZP 'skills' are below. ZP still has me as C

its got me wondering as well , i think sometimes the results are kinder than they should be for me - i guess we will just have to wait and see if anything changes - end of the day its only numbers and can only make you work harder

You're ZwiftPower designated category is C as you haven't reached either of the Cat B levels as described in the image.

It is not crystal clear to the untrained eye how this is applied so here is an example using Carl's position in Cat C.
For Carl to be promoted to Cat B he would need to complete a race in the last 30 days where:-
(1) His 5 mins power was at least 220 watts
AND (2a) his FTP was at least 3.4 w/kg (taken from 95% column)
OR (2b) his FTP was at least 3.2 w/kg AND his 5 mins (in same race) was 4.0 w/kg.

You can be assured though that the designated cat on your profile is accurate as it is calculated automatically.

There are always the pack Sub two rides, and there are some women only 'beginner' rides as well that are low power social rides. I have to be honest and say that those are the rides I tend to pick, rather than out and out racing. Now that I've sort of recovered from that damn virus, I need to work on fitness so I'm going for workout mode for a few weeks to try and get the FTP back up to a sensible level.

I've started a 12 week training programme on Zwift from today. Must admit I do like the Zwift workouts, really do make me work hard! I'm less bothered about getting more power, more interested in losing some weight. Good luck getting your fitness back, and would be great to see you on some races going forward when you feel ready :okay:

I don't have any actual goals of training except enjoy more riding and sometimes challenge myself but have to say that Zwift events like ToNY kind of events and some races every now and then gives a good change bit of monotonic free rides. Maybe pedaling technique is something what i would like to train more. FTP-test is probably something what i will skip.

Ive so far really enjoyed this winters base training. Its not too tasking, but ive had reasonable aerobic improvements. Im not overly worried about lacking peak power Vo2 max. Ill start power build in February/March next year.

I think that is right way to do. This time of a year is probably better take it easy and not put too much effort. It would be ideal to find a training method what build you good physical condition when next outdoor season start. When i finish my Tour of New York tomorrow i will take week or 2 easily and focusing to keep my current physical shape for a moment.

My wife is just now trying Zwift for the first time. She is more a runner than a biker, but the weather was too dark and wet tonight, so she asked if she could use the home trainer. Having only tried Bkool, she was not too pleased she could not choose her own route of choise. I signed her up for an D-race but she just didn't have the power to stay with the group, so she's just riding todays course now.

I wanted her to experience a group ride, but I guess, with her current power level, that would only be possible with a workout event?

Lars,
Loads of sub2 types rides, as well as rides increasingly targeting those new to cycling, those recovering from injuries and low watt women only tides. I will look some up for you FB soo you know where to look on Zwift events or the companion app.

Need to check when next log on to PC, but think it's something like Fondo 100-200. I need to train for distance with tour of Cambridge on the cards for next year so this seemed best.

There are some sessions where the group is held together too. So irrespective of power all riders travel at the same pace.

I think we’re looking for something sub1 like. I know we all have to start somewhere, but I couldn’t help but laugh when she came back from the dungeon cursing that she was overtook by a runner :giggle:.
