That was hard ..... but I think I got my tactics right. Pushed hard all the way, worked in a group over the top of the climb then most of the way to the line. About 2.5km to go I lost the group, but was still with 2 others and we worked together to the line. Well chuffed at my FTP increase from 243 to 257. HRM conked out part way through the ride, but up to it stopping I was right on my limit

Saw both @Norry1 and @Del C on the first part of the climb. @Breedon passed me on the early part of the climb too and I just couldn't stay with the pace of the group he was in. Feck I need to shed some lard for these cllimbs!!!

That was indeed tough tonight. I went out hard and tried to stay in the leading pack but as soon as the climb was upon me I was off the back and so rested a bit and tried to get to the top ready for the next pack to swallow me up. I managed to pretty much stick with that pack to the end but it was not comfortable! :heat:

Stats were pretty much in line with Tuesday's ride (race ;)) so hopefully that wasn't a flash in the pan.

Well done everyone and well done Whorty on the new FTP!

Your tactics must have made a difference.

Our power readings are almost identical, but I came in around 2 minutes behind you.

Generally pleased with my ride, but twice lost groups and paid the price for it both times. Oddly, I'm losing groups mainly on the descents. I seem to be picking up a few places on the climbs. The first group I lost was actually on the descent after the KoM, having stayed with the group all the way up the climb.

I think being 84 kg helps on the descents. I'm often flying past others (I guess their weight is much lower than mine). I'm pretty good now at staying in a fast moving group on the rolling flats - the various workouts I've done over the weeks have helped my body put in big bursts of power, then recover quickly which helps me stay with the groups over the little lumps.

The climb though tonight, I PB'd the first section with an average of 280 watts, and the KoM was a 2nd best time for me with and ave 271 watts for 4 minutes. This certainly helped tonight. I crested with 1 other guy a few yards in front, and 4-5 riders a few yards behind. I pushed on over the top and the others came with me. This little group then caught another similar sized group on the flats which was then moving at a fast pace - this is probably where my 2 mins came from - not me directly, but the speed of the group.
