Ok, hope you don't mind a little bike-nerdy pollution of this thread. My plan was to do a final TT test today with the equipment I was going to use for the late summer Chrono Cup this year. Perfect conditions today with virtually no wind and 22 C... but I'm down with a cold:cry:.

The equipment includes:

Michelin power competition tires 25 mm rear + 23 mm front, MET Drone Widebody TT Helmet and an old HEAD Jet disc rear wheel (heavy), Castelli Body Paint 3 Speedsuit, Velotoze overshoes (short) and Grip Grap Aero TT gloves.

The tires an helmet are new to me, but I did the ultimate tire test in a crit with fast and tight corners last weekend. A few of us got dumped at a hill early in the race, so could just go round the corners with max speed. Every single time we rounded a corner, my fellow riders were 15 meters back, so after a few corners I just decided to continue TT style. The point here being that the Michelin's were at least as good as the Conti GP 4000 SII in cormers.

The MET helmet has a bit longer "tail" than the POC Cerebel that I've been using lately, so is not as forgiving. I did some video comparison yesterday and found that I need to keep my head straight at all times, while I can lower my head a bit sometimes with the POC without beeing penelised too much.
I'm sure you've already seen this but it is almost counterintuitive.

For super smooth surfaces, then higher the better so contact patch is minimal, but for average to poor surfaces, much lower pressure and wider is better. There is a tipping point when the tyre size gets too big that added drag comes into play. From personal experience I would say 30mm is max for speed and comfort 25-28mm if a lightweight rider

You would have a lot more credibility if I hadn't seen you set a crazy fast pace with some 40mm knobbys. I think you're just trying to keep your accidental discovery to yourself.

Anyone managed to get out and see the Tour of Britain yet? They come through Cheddar today - and right past my office a few miles from Cheddar too. I've brought my bike in with me though, so plan to cycle back to Cheddar gorge to watch them come up there somewhere - will try and get some pics...
I'll look out for you on the highlights tonight :okay:

Bit of a shame really - we are away this week, but the Tour is passing through Warwick on Wednesday, half a mile from my house.

You may recall I was worried one of my Strava KOMs would be nabbed by one of the riders in the Women's Tour recently - looks like the guys are doing a similar route - and my KOM is definitely at risk. It isn't a hill, so maybe they won't be going full bore. Will check Strava on Thursday.
