sounds like surgery will take long time to recover from but will it give you a better knee long term

Prognosis good on surgery lite with 80% plus prospect of success;less pain, reduced risk of cyst reforming from leakage from torn miniscus provided that heals ok. So pretty good.
Replacing ACL ; I have lived without in for 30y after a skateboarding accident. Occasionally leg will give way, or float about a bit say on sprints on turbo. New ACL would likley remedy that but so might strengthening of weak glutes and quads. Both would be even better. ACL has a repair failure of 2% a year. So, I am inclined to leave it alone in absence of any persuasive advice/evidence that it will significantly improve prospects.

Spent an evening at Mallory park racing circuit smooth tarmac no pot holes and traffic free fantastic and bloody knackering.
They do racing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Thursdays are for adults need to find out more info about that.
It's like Richmond on Zwift the short loop but it's not flat, some nice TT bikes.
There are some circuits this would be very good on. Brands, Cadwell and Oulton Park to name a few.

Might not be able to get that much, if any, elevation
