@Whorty I think the main difference was I remembered to get a really fast start and then got in with a decent group. My average power was pretty poor - may be a reaction to a big week in the Alps where my TSS was nearly 900. I struggled to hit FTP for the 2 "intervals" up Box Hill.

There were about 20 C starters so a bit sad to see only 5 showing on the results. I seem to recall I finished something like 23rd out of 49.

I only saw @bridgy in the results as well
I saw your big start but decided against that myself as I may have bonked on the Hill. On the road you was always 5 or 6 riders ahead but also a consistent 90 + seconds. I was pleased with my time and ride, just a shame so few are signed up to ZP.

OK.

I'll be lazy and ask the idiot question.

What's the short story/explanation about Zwiftpower? Does it help with sorting out who to race with and how do I sign up?

Most Zwift races transfer their results to ZP, which does the "final" classification/ranking, taking into account, what trainer people uses (smart, non-smart etc.), heart rate (not using a HR-strap gets you disqualified in many races) and manyh other things.
You sign up to Strava and ZwiftPower and link those two, as they use real life data to see, if your Zwift performance is wrong compared to real life (ie. you cheat or use a faulty trainer). Then on your Zwift profile, you have to opt-in to ZwiftPower, to allow them to get your race data etc. (because of GDPR).

In addition to what @Brusgaard says, ZP allows you to see race rankings after the race but Zwift doesn't. On Zwift as you finish you have a screen showing position but once you close the screen it's gone. ZP fills a gap in Zwift.

I'm signed up to the 5:20 WBR Greater London flat race C Cat if anyone fancies a blast later. 10 miles of all out full throttle.

Edit: a decent ride for me. Blasted out the blocks and stayed with lead group for first 8km or so. Lost them as we came past Big Ben and headed along the north bank. I broke free of the couple who were dropped at the same time and picked up another straggler. He latched on to me and I couldn't shake him. A few times I got a few metres lead but he kept coming back. Legs were getting tired and just didn't have enough in the end to out sprint him. Beat me by half a wheel. On the road I was 14 out of 34 riders (I think 9 C riders). ZP has me first of C out of 4 which is rather flattering as I definitely didn't win the C group on the road. Ave 246 watts over 27 mins so pleased with that.
