Had a spin on MyWhoosh, did two different routes, one flat, one with a tiny climb.

Negatives:
1) there are no virtual gears, so even though I can change the resistance on the trainer (Watt Atom) there is no indication of what "gear" I am in.
2) Graphics aren't as good as Zwift, though I did install the "light" version
3) I did a Belgium route and they've set the GPS data in Belgium, I think they should sling the GPS data into the ocean somewhere otherwise virtual rides may take real segments on Strava.

Positives:
1) My rider looks slimmer than on Zwift
2) It is free.

I'll stick with it for a while and no doubt I will get used to it

Eeek. I had a 30-minute warmup and I still wasn't ready. I think I needed a more vigorous one.

I was aiming for 350 and came away with 329 on ZP, so not too bad. 343 would have been a 3 minute PR, but the race was 2:52 for me in the end.
Unfortunately though, the first 10s of power data is not in the .FIT file because of the old issue with "time starts when you cross the start line" thing. So my REAL power might have been slightly higher. But unless I analyse the video footage, I won't get that data.

Normally those 10s don't amount to much, but in a sub-3m race it would have made a slight difference.

That's what the Garmin is for.

Can't see me unplugging that, carrying it indoors and sitting with it on my lap 😁

Martin,
I have an ITX build with a Nvidia1050ti built up by Dave over on the PC Zwift forum. Uses an old dell itx box but doesnt matter if out the way. Runs zwift in 4k. Its a few years old but still fine. I built up my own ITX box so this is superflous now. If interested send me a pm.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
zwift support is now involved but i fear until they fix the memory leak bug i am stuck with it crashing and limiting my workouts to half an hour solo , i can still get a meaningful session in if i solo and make it a higher intensity ride .

+1 for decent desktop solution, I was running on laptop but not happy with it in the garage, so put a SSD in the old desktop together with windows 11 even though PC is not up to 11 spec, I run Sauce on PC screen and Zwift on a 42" screen I am happy with the setup.

I do my 11pm internet browsing away from the wife who is in the bedroom…

Bit cold in the garage at that time of night for 'relaxing' browsing surely?

I'm guessing the kind of person who buys a laptop and uses it for Zwift/TPv may well be the kind of person who puts a bike on a trainer rather than having a dedicated multi-thousand-pound static bike. (I know @Norry1 and myself fit that mould). Although my used Allez is dedicated to indoor, I do like the idea that it could act as a spare road bike if I needed it to.

I have the dedicated Atom for virtual, and my Specialised for outside. ATV for virtual riding. Laptop for generic use. Gone are the days I want to sit at a computer desk for surfing when I can sit on a sofa

Sounds like you need a gravel bike and a tablet

I have an iPad too although only really use it when travelling as can't be bothered with the laptop.
I have gravel wheels and tyres for the Specialised although I have though about a dedicated gravel bike as some lovely gravel routes in the area (Salisbury plain, so long as I can avoid the tanks
