Check out https://mywhooshinfo.com/workouts and see if there isn’t already stuff to use.
Actually looks like some of the workouts I would tend to go for are in there - I prefer to do straightforward blocks of same Zone efforts rather than the all over the shop stuff that Zwift is infamous for.

Don’t you have a computer where you can create workouts?
Yes I have a laptop and installed MyWhoosh on Friday afternoon - thanks for that pointer. Struggling with errors trying to launch it initially but got it running. Fix log below for anyone else struggling to get it working.
On the laptop I designed a basic interval set and saved it up with the intention of seeing if it was there in my AppleTV and glad to report it was indeed - the wonders of data and digital!
Doing the workout First impressions are it’s fine (on Apple TV).

IMG_2866.jpeg

I like the HUD. Good and clear.
There was No list of other riders nearby, and the chat was by default set to a badge notification behind a symbol on the lower part of the screen.

Graphics were by default set to medium - I got warnings when moving the setting to high/ultra so left it back at medium. Not sure if the warning was device specific - my Apple TV was bought in 2020 and I was surprised it allowed the game download as I had read others had difficulty. I’ll try the higher settings some other time.

The Avatar was rather basic I thought with some customisation available but looks like more can be done as XP is unlocked - for instance I gained enough level ups on my first ride to upgrade from ankle socks (a crime against humanity in my eyes) to regular socks. Only 2 jerseys to choose from but obviously more are unlockable.

I picked a flat route in Colombia not that that mattered too much as I was in ERG mode for my workout. Quite a few other riders on the start line but I’m not sure if they were bots or not. The number of nearby riders thinned out as I made my way round.

The workout went fine. ERG was nice and responsive. As I was in a workout I didn’t get a feel for gameplay / in game physics.

My phone didn’t pair the equivalent companion app to the game which was a bit annoying and I thought I had crashed the thing mid ride when fumbling around with the ATV remote.

I look forward to giving some events a go in February but for now I’ll get the most out of my Zwift subs. As I’m not racing I’m thinking I will be content to use the free ride and workout feature in MyWhoosh and see what the community events are like.

Laptop Fix Log
First fix attempt was to download the ‘standard’ version rather than the HD version that I had downloaded first time round. Same errors again. Did the well trodden hitting the on/off button - same again. Then discovered a myWhoosh ‘Update Prerequisites’ exe in the start menu and upon running that I can now open the game.

I think TrainingPeaks and/or TrainerDay workouts exports to MyWhoosh somehow.
Yeah read that but I don’t subscribe to either and don’t really want another subscription- I already subscribe to Intervals.icu

Enjoy Tenerife Al, will look out for your rides on Strava and any reports/ photos you may upload upon your return :okay:

Thanks Andy. I don’t plan doing any long distance spins this year but will see what happens. I’ve done the Vilaflor- Teide climb a few times before but don’t feel the need to do it again.

Again I’m based in Costa Adeje so I’ll get to some of the nice hills in that area like to one to the village of Taucho. I think @Norry1 enjoyed that one last year too ☺️

Having messed up the sprint in the week, I thought I'd try this one again. Much smaller race, only 70 compared to 135 in the week. 30 made it in the lead group that settled down at a very low w/kg pace. A few Km in I attacked to try and spice up the race a bit, and twice more, dropping about 10 riders. Only 2 or 3 others came with me and they sat on and didn't work so I dropped back into the pack and waited for the sprint.

I went a bit late for me, about 400 mtrs out. I wanted to get the speed of the group to slingshot me through but almost messed it up again and only just took the win on the line  As I've not been racing lots I didn't trust my legs, but again in hindsight I could have gone at 500 mtrs instead of 400.

I literally got out of bed, brushed teeth and jumped on bike (well, put bib shorts on too obviously), so totally fasted ride.

ZRS still below the 270 pen cut off so I could do it again in the week to claim more trophies for the cabinet before I part ways with Zwift on the 17th :wahhey:

Nice win. I was thinking to try the upper range today, but the hour hasn't coincided with when I want to ride unless I defer to 1310.

I looked at the C race results afterwards and my sprint would have likely podiumed me in that too (if I could have held on to the finish). It was a quick decision when I woke up to jump on the ride so wasn't aware of the quality of the field - it was weaker than the race the other day so riding up for me would have been more sensible.
I do like those flatter courses - not getting dropped means I have to work the whole way just to hang on. Better workout for me.

You can show/hide UI parts on the fly, at least in free/event modes - I haven’t done any workouts, so it may be different there.

If your ATV was bought in 2020, it is the old 2017 model. You will most likely experience crashes and/or other issues when you try events or free ride.
I recommend upgrading to 3rd gen and use the old one as a streaming device.

Except for the (MyBunch) pacer bots, the other bots have regular names, so hard to tell - you have to analyse their riding style to figure it out.

I only use the Link app to check/sign up events. No need to jump through BT channel loops when on PC.

You could try the Tour de Monde events, which runs all of January. Should be a good turnout for them, especially in the EU time slot.

I'm enjoying being near top of cat as well (well, 20 points off).

Trying to use it to do hilly races, had volcano climb again and very happy with effort up it. One guy floated up it and won by ages a group of 4 behind, one other guy attacked on downhill and left us for dead. 2nd on zwiftpower.

I'm only at the top in flat races where I can wheel suck ... had that race had even a small KoM and I'd have been spat out the back  I do love it when the flat races appear :dance:

But that's how it should be. If you're both racing in the right category a sprinty person should NEVER beat a a climby person on a climby course.

I just did the 1210. B pen lower range. I crossed the line 7th. (5th on ZP). 2nd lowest Watts in the pen, but the guy with the lowest finished 6 minutes later, so I'm discounting that one.

I think I did a bit better in the sprint this time, but had some stronger opposition.

I was thinking the same earlier, but from a different perspective. My thought was, if someone can be at the front and winning flat, rolling and climby, then they are likely in the wrong pen/cat. I'm in the correct pen, but will only be at the front for pan flat where I can sprint - anything with a lump, the climbers should be dropping me, like I drop them in a sprint.
I do like it when my watts/w/kg is on the low side but I do well  Shows I was efficient

Yeah I had the lowest watt/kg in my race out of 11. Very draftable climb.

I do agree though I have no business being at front of a climbing race! I reckon I'll get upgraded in next couple of races. It does actually help me do some climbing which is good tho!

You are always the bringer of good news @Brusgaard 😭

My pleasure. ^_^

My parents have one of my old Apple TV 3s, which is now by all accounts obsolete. So they will probably get my old 2017 ATV4K at some point. Right now it is just in the shed as a streaming device and for the occasional run of MyWhoosh to see if it still starts on that old sucker. ^_^
Rumor has it that a new 4K model might be released this year, and I would hate buying the "current" 2022 model, if a new one is just around the corner... Already have a 4K 3rd gen in the living room, so not in a hurry.
