Not THAT kind of tablet! ^_^ But my current tablet (13” iPad Pro M4) I got from work. You COULD ask your doctor for one, if you can invent some sort of disease that requires an iPad to cure you. :okay:

LMAO. I think you get given a computer at school if you have ADHD diagnosis but I don’t know about an iPad. having said that though I’m using my iPad to dictate this message to you while I’m Zwifting. that’s why the punctuation is so crap in this post. 😂

I do buy a new laptop roughly once every 10 years. I’m not sure if it’s worth it for somebody like me to have a dedicated computer for zwifting but it is quite appealing possibly I’ll do that at some point in the future. but for now like Martin, I only really have one main computer that I use for everything including Zwift it’s the MacBook Pro. I bought last year. probably not the best solution just for Zwift thing but considering I spend more time with my computer than I do with my wife, it’s a good investment for me.

Instead of a 2km TT I jumped on the next ride which was ventop. Sliding doors!

Edit; hit 20k Kms on the downhill when I wasn't even in the room. Anticlimactic 😂

You are entitled to waste your own money. Why people want a lower performing fragile laptop computer is beyond me however….
Not everyone has the same situation and perspective as you.

I reckon Martin is on a lookout for a 'do-everything' piece of tech and getting a decently specced laptop is the most cost-effective way of doing it.

Yes, you're right - you can get a similarly specced desktop for half the price. But if you want to do some internet surfing at 11pm on a larger screen he won't go to the garage and carry it to his bedroom. So in reality this one laptop is really 3-4 devices in one and is cheaper than their combined cost.

Empathy is grossly overrated, but I have NO idea how YOU feel about that

Imagine those people who have a dedicated bike from Tacx or Wahoo (or even Zwift xx() Not easy for them if they want to go outside for a spin at 11 AM on a Sunday afternoon. So in reality buying a dedicated “bike” computer, a tablet and use the normal road bike in the trainer is cheaper...

I'm guessing the kind of person who buys a laptop and uses it for Zwift/TPv may well be the kind of person who puts a bike on a trainer rather than having a dedicated multi-thousand-pound static bike. (I know @Norry1 and myself fit that mould). Although my used Allez is dedicated to indoor, I do like the idea that it could act as a spare road bike if I needed it to.

If you are also the type that pours coffee or tea onto the keyboard - effectively killing laptops - a dedicated desktop+tablet may still be the better option - cheaper or not. ^_^

I have to say that isn't one of my regular habits  thankfully.

I still agree that it would be nice to have a dedicated indoor cycling computer, but at the moment I prefer to spend the money on other things. (e.g. Assioma Pro MX2 pedals and a set of carbon wheels.) The laptop is somthing I would have bought anyway - but that it can be used for Zwift and streaming is a bonus. (I was using my iPad before).

That absolutely killed me. Probably didn't help that I didn't have a proper warm-up - only noticed the time with 10 minutes to go and I still had to switch on the PC, load up Zwift and get changed. That's why you see me in the pens in Alex's video but not pedalling - cause I'm in the other room searching for my cycling shorts.

I knew I was going to finish last and by some distance, but I had a wattage target in mind and tried to stick to it. And I did get more average watts than Alex and S.Hynes (barely). Managed to hold my power in lower Z6 until about one third through, then started drifting into Z5 and briefly into Z4 as I crossed the line. Felt completely wrecked afterwards.

But what do you do when you already have the Assioma DUOs and a pair of ZIPP 404? I buy a new computer! ^_^ Still using my old 2008 Giant TCR (mostly for commuting) and 2015 Cannondale Synapse though…

Eeek. I had a 30-minute warmup and I still wasn't ready. I think I needed a more vigorous one.

I was aiming for 350 and came away with 329 on ZP, so not too bad. 343 would have been a 3 minute PR, but the race was 2:52 for me in the end.
Unfortunately though, the first 10s of power data is not in the .FIT file because of the old issue with "time starts when you cross the start line" thing. So my REAL power might have been slightly higher. But unless I analyse the video footage, I won't get that data.

Normally those 10s don't amount to much, but in a sub-3m race it would have made a slight difference.
