It's a bit late notice, but if anyone wants a ride this evening, I'd arranged a CCC/DB test race to get everyone warmed up for ZRL in a few weeks, but the majority of our lot took a break from Zwift over the summer and haven't re-subscribed yet, so we're a bit light on numbers. Anyone is welcome to join, whether you treat it as a race or a Z2 cruise.

Having swapped bikes for trainer use which use different pedal systems ,during tonight CCC get together I discovered you can just pull the SPD shoe straight out the pedal when putting in an uphill surge ,cue panic until I got back clipped in . Off to tighten the tension spring

Punchy Stage 4 London Loop.

Takes in Boxhill. I knew I would struggle, but I held off lesser powerful lightweights. Descended 10mph faster than any of my nearest rivals, so was able to catch someone in front. Crushed him up the elevator to roll in 8/9th depending on which results you look at.

Seems the categories for me a diverging in ranking. I'm at the back in the new RS system but near the front with the old A/B/C/D cat

Have a word Alex, you know about this stuff :okay:

I did the 0910 one this morning and got 4th of 10 starts but 3rd on ZP

You might like the Cyclopathon series coming up as the category thresholds will alternate each month. This is to ensure nobody gets stuck at the top or bottom so it should be more fun. Sometimes you're in contention and sometimes not. Also the different routes will help.

I took 30s off my Box Hill PR this morning. Was pleased with that 7:34 now.

OK well here we go. It's all set up and ready to go for the Cyclopathon Monthly League.
The first month's Cyclopathon races are created...
https://www.zwift.com/uk/events/tag/cyclopathon

Here's the main page with all the series details
https://cyclopathy.com/cyclopathon

The ZP League WILL include Team Standings from the top 4 performing team members in each race in addition to individual standings.

Perhaps most importantly of all, the thresholds will alternate monthly so that the same people are not always at the top and bottom of the categories. This should keep it fresh.

There's no commitment required, so people doing ZRL can take part if they are on the bench in any given week.

I watched your race Alex, you did very well with Boxhill. :okay:

Thanks it was a shame the other two caught me on Box, but it seems like everyone had the same idea. Smashy with the feather, but I did it first  Then on the descent I saw the Japanese name and auto-assumed he would be a small lightweight with a weedy sprint but I couldn't shake him on the descent and he killed me on the escalator (which was supposed to be my advantage). Sometimes the other guys are just stronger and that's that!

Good move to add the team option, Alex. I know its not a flexible option, but I think it adds to the overall concept.

Can’t confirm yet, but I think Level will support this alongside ZRL

Obvious question, but I assume it will be set up so that top 4 riders in each cat/pen score for their teams? I think this is how it worked before

Yes it's already set up exactly that way :okay: The only "quirk" is that your main team on ZP has to be set correctly at the time of the race

Well done and thanks for organising this Alex. Sounds great. It takes some effort to organise especially the league/series aspect. Hopefully you won’t get too many whinging about “I was in the wrong category “ or “so and so cheated”.

Haha - well I've been involved in the organisation of DRS - particularly over the summer - so I've seen first-hand how all that whinging happens. (And lots of people reporting each other in private).

And that was one of my main factors in asking if we could use the new ZRS categories. They're still experimental, so might be a bit rough around the edges, but with 100-wide categories and alternating monthly thresholds there should be scope for a lot of fun and hopefully people will get to the right place before too long.

Other things I learnt were "do not under any circumstances have a discord server"
Literally I've tried to make this as close to "zero admin overhead" as possible. I don't want to give people a platform to whinge on.
Now it's set up, the ZP League should virtually run itself and ZRS also uses enforcement, so people can't go in a pen lower than their score allows.

So hopefully we can all focus on enjoying the races and thinking up courses for next month. ^_^
