Rematch with stage 3 Sea Breeze. This time I didn't go all in on the second to last climb. It meant a few riders got a head. I was thinking that they may suffer like I did last time. A few did, one particular rider tried my tactics and blew up.

Anyhow 8th this time by saving just a little to have a couple of micro sprints to let me catch up with some of the riders

I'm no master tactician, but couldn't you have got a better result if you hadn't been soft-pedalling at less than 100w while the winner was lighting up his fire socks?

That's so cruel Tim.

Didn't you see I was at 174bpm:B), that for me is bouncing off the limiter:cry:. I needed a tiny recovery, before trying again. I find these finishes where I go into the red zone to hang on and then there is another minute of so to finish line extremely tough.

There was another rider G Rabie, who tried my early attack tactic. He was got 5 secs lead on the whole pack and faded badly like my previous attempt, finished behind me.

There was one uplifting aspect, I was the first 50+ age group finisher, well seen as I'm in my 60th year:whistle:, we'll call it 60!

Sorry, Andy, I did see that you pulse was really high, but you still managed to pull out 850W a few seconds later, so you couldn't have been completely out of your tree?

Nearly, I was aware that last time, I just popped, so kept just a little bit back for a second short lived sprint

Looks like I'm back in B proper. Is the ZRL thingy still ongoing? Happy to support if there's room, and I qualify @Girafitti / @bridgy.

Met a young relative who has just started with Zwift (months) has already a FTP of 320W. He's 90kg, former university rower.

He's been convinced to ride for CHOPGUN in ZRL this September. If he progresses I could see him with an FTP of 350W or more.

For a laugh he's entered a semi serious half Ironman event next month in Europe
