Not too late for that. We can plan some sort of meetup even.It really has been hard to get the outdoor miles in this "summer". I've ridden a lot less outdoor than usual because of all the high winds and rain.
At least I've had good value out of my Zwift subs though and won't have to "start again" like I did last year.
The main thing I haven't done that I wanted to do is some more of the 100 climbs. Not done a single new one yet this year. Hopefully September/October might change that.
I think it kind of suited me. I tend to put out more power on an incline. We'd slowed a bit in the run up to it so I was able to get a decent sprint going.
Strange to see Deano was doing it seated. 🤔

Ha, excluding 5-mile pootles with my boys, I've done 4 outdoor rides so far this year. I did 6 in 2022, none(!) in 2021, and 18 in 2020 (pre-Zwift).
Easy-tough course in the FRR today - Eastern Eight. The Fuego Short sprint doesn't count. Instead, it's the 7.1km Fuego Long that awards prime points towards the green jersey. I remember a ZRL race where that was the case too, it was strange. Is this the most awkward timed segment on Zwift?
I think the Glasgow crit course is definitely my favourite.

Person who came second did a video, can see us winding up sprint at same time
That FRR stage yesterday turned out to be a real killer.
The ambition was to hold on to the lead pack until end of the 7.1k 'sprint' segment at around 34km mark. Failing to do so would put me in a slower group through the prime and hurt my hunt for green.
The A riders didn't make it easy though - we set off from the Fuego pens at a (typical) bonkers pace and then there were a few breakaway attempts through the desert - a handful of weak/inattentive riders got spat out the back. Once we reached the ramp leading out of the sand, they pushed on gradients - every little bump through Titans Grove saw a few riders dropped.
Still, by the time we reached Titans Forward KOM, the group was still circa 80 riders strong (out of 130 in the event). I felt the pace in the legs, but knowing that holding on through this segment was my only ticket to good jersey points, I've decided to go as hard as I had to. I literally held on to the front by the skin of my teeth - at the very back of the group throughout the whole climb. I was sure I'm about to get spat out any second more than once. Managed to cling on though; once over the top, there was now 35 of us. 2nd fastest up the segment in my category.
They carried on pushing a tiny bit, but you could tell the group was saving it for the flat segment. For a minute, I felt safe. So much so that I've decided to take a little gamble and drop back 3-4m ahead of the Fuego Long, went through the start line, caught on, then held on to the pack throughout, and made sure I was towards the front on the arch. I got 2nd best FTS in my category - so very happy with that. I beat a few individuals by mere tenths of a second, so that drop back might have helped. 29 at the front now, so a few couldn't manage the pace.
Out of the desert again, in the other direction, we started the journey through Titans Grove again. Once we hit about 50 minutes in, and 5k to go, the pace became relentless - the As were now competing for finishing positions. In my mind, I had one of two choices: Either try to hold on and get decent finishing points but probably blow up on Titans Reverse (poor KOM points). Or ease off, let the consolidated group 2 minutes behind catch, and sacrifice finish points for a decent time up the hill. I've sat up completely - did under 100W for around 4 minutes and felt semi-good again.
Held on to the dropped pack once they came around, used their draft up Titans Reverse, got 2nd time up that segment in my category too. In hindsight, I think I made a good choice. All the riders in my category that pushed with the front ended up with very poor times up the last segment. I sacrificed maybe 5 finishing points, but they lost 25 on the KOM.
5 races to go. Next week is in New York, with the KOM getting tackled from both sides. News on the street is that 2 of the last 3 races will again incorporate Climb Portal segments for KOM points. Sounds fun.
