I’ve realised that Andrew doesn’t have Cubs on Tuesday night, because of half-term…whether this makes my presence more or less likely, I’m not sure.

That's pancake day, chuck some flour, eggs and milk to him, point him to the frying pan and get him to promise he won't set fire to the kitchen and let him crack on.

Ed Laverack has posted a video debrief on YouTube of his world's ride . I didn't realise the overall winner covered both of Eds breakaways
Having watched the event yesterday I think his biggest mistake was just giving up at the end.

Everyone had a burrito in that first race. And everyone, as you would expect, deployed it on the final segment. This means that practically everyone did that last segment without any draft.

It think that when the breakaway got caught, he just didn't even try, thinking that even with a big sprint he doesn't stand a chance. This is normally true, but not when there's zero draft. If he kept pedalling maybe he'd make it.

I think he had his plan which was based on thinking he couldn't compete in a mass sprint so he went all in with plan A . 400 + watts for 7 mins in not to shabby . He thinks if everyone in the last breakaway had completely committed they may have stayed away

Maybe he had nothing left ... just couldn't push any more?

I think he did the right thing. Not only would he not do well in a sprint he also needed to eliminate a bunch of the sprinters to stand any chance in race three. Better to shoot your shot, just didn't have anyone helping him in that breakaway group

That’s true, Ed is not very good sprinter despite that he is good cyclist. About 2-weeks ago he try to break 1000W few times but he only exceeded 800W, only just. Okay he is light so power/weight ratio looks better but with A-Cat races i think that is not so good. Ed’s assets comes up better with a longer race where is enough elevation meters where he can do more damage. Ed can’t do short explosive sprints only very long one, imho. As far as i know he isn’t much trained sprints.

And there lies the difference between cyclists... well said ... some are better suited to longer races with hilly routes, others shorter races with sprints

No one size fits all.

I think I need help ! . Just done stage 3 FRR an itt up the Alpe and I enjoyed it !!!
Had set a time in the last tour same equipment which was raced to hairpin 5 but I went to the top . So to beat my time I matched my segments to hairpin 5 then just held that pace where last time I slowed ,new pr of 1.09.20 compared to 1.10.38. Did have a carrots(including John) all the way as I was last C out of the pen , literally only a couple of A,B late starters past me on the climb
