Bit of a left field question.

Why do so many randoms follow you on Zwift? I now have 214 followers and every time I log into Zwift Companion I seem to have a couple more?
If you look at their profiles, it's usually people that follow hundreds or even thousands of riders. I can think of many explanations but most likely would be:

1. They just follow any new person they see cause they like it.

2. When the 'friends segment leaderboards' come in they'll have a nice database of segment times from a variety of different riders.

3. There is a slight chance the target will follow them back, increasing their number of followers. More followers increase the probability of getting 'ride-ons' and each of these temporarily boost your drops accumulation, ultimately meaning that it's a strategy of maximising the in-game currency for newcomers.

Even odder is when people who follow you on Strava start to follow your friends who they have no connection with. And then start giving them kudos on rides. Not mentioning any names…

27:01 - nice work both of you

This one felt easier than my previous effort on Tuesday - and the stats support this. My average and NP was 229W and 240W today compared with 241W and 249W on Tuesday - but it was 11 seconds quicker. My 1 min, 30 secs and 15 secs sprint were all higher today - presumably as I had more left at the end.

Quite enjoyed it and it was good having @CXRAndy alongside, even if he did beat me by 3 places and 0.3 seconds ^_^

I felt quite fresh afterwards, so will be doing an over/under workout tomorrow rather than the planned Z2.

Stage 6 FRR done ,44.49 ,81st /124 on zwift power A nice short 25kms with just Titans reverse and the rollers and Volcano climb to worry about . Lost the front group before Titans on the #@*"-'g rollers ,Formed a small group of 10 over the top which was working nicely picking up odd riders until the rhythm is ruined by A groups passing us and riders flying off to try and hang on to the faster group then it's speed up regroup settle back down until the next pack pass us . If you've not noticed this is getting on my nerves . Anyway nearly held off @Peter Salt who's group caught me 500mts from the top of the Volcano . I could see the group catching me as they neared out the saddle to accelerate to match their speed ,sat straight back down and let them pass I was on my limit but surprised myself by going sub 10 ( 9.53) for the climb it was 2 minutes slower the last time we finished up there

@Joffey sorry I did read your posts from a couple of pages back when you posted it but I didn’t respond at the time. Very best of luck with the fostering mate. I really mean that.

On a side note I just tried to write fostering and predictive text assumed I was attempting to spell ‘fisting’. I’m not sure what that says about my search history. But let’s not dwell on that eh!…

All the best amigo!

It was a nice ride today. I decided not to push the segments at all - kind of regretted it when I lost the group on Titan's descent but then found a nice pack that was doing a reasonable pace and alternating at the front so it was a very enjoyable ride. Actually my best time up the Volcano to date - pretty happy with that considering the basic Zwift frame, disc wheels, not too much draft, 8 consecutive days of riding, including 5 consecutive days of racing. Hope the effort will pay off when the week ends and we get some rest.

The Volcano route is so squiggly I didn't actually notice I was overtaking you @13 rider. I was convinced you're miles up the road

Tomorrow is a massive day. 2.5h of 'racing' - and that's an optimistic estimate. Need to stack up on Haribos and water bottles.

I was planning to do it, so will do it. Not sure how much of it I'll be able to race but hey-ho. Make sure to get out of the saddle every now and then. You can save a lot of time by not taking a pee break ;)

Somehow I've managed to finish stage 7 of FRR ,2.41.31 ,47th/56 on zp . Held the bunch till the first sprint and got dropped with 72km to go . This will be a long day .Spent most of the ride alone caught a couple got caught by faster A pens but couldn't hold them for long . Strangely suffered on the flats barely able to push 2.2w/kg but could climb at 2.7ish . So nearly quit at the bottom of the Epic but somehow found the determination to get to the top lost loads of time on this but I made it . Really need a rest couldn't really raise heart rate and had no acceleration in the legs could just chug along

Top job, Phil. Stuck in no man's land for so long must have been dreadful.

It was tough. The only thing that made it bearable was the group I ended up with. About 8-10 people with similar abilities, or will, or both. We weren't pushing too hard so there were some jokes, reminders to drink water and eat your sweets. That said, legs feel absolutely shot. Will do the ITT tomorrow (Tour of Fire and Ice route) but it's more about finishing than anything else.

Yes I'd like to finish it off now ,but I'm broken at the moment I might make the start and see . Like I said strangely I felt more comfortable climbing (slowly) than pushing on the flats

Well done! That's some effort going solo for that long
