I decided you lot are all nuts and I'm putting the thread on ignore who thought it was a good idea to do a time trail in Bologna !! Up a massive hill . And I'm stupid enough to do 23.24 I think

I think that would be @Peter Salt

Was a bit of a CycleChat reunion in that event. Me, @13 rider, @BurningLegs, @bridgy and @mjd1988 all in the pens (or rather on the conveyor belt).

Very proud of my time of 21:34 - 2.7 w/kg on the flat, 3.1 on the climb. The Zwift stats screen at the end had my watts for 20 minutes at their highest, but it didn't show me the FTP increase screen, so I guess I must have equalled my previous best.

Video uploading now to give the rest of you a guide on how a fat guy paces it!

Ah yes I did see that thread. Only issue with my garage is it has an automatic door which is giant and cuts out a fair bit if space. Must do some measuring

Not sure why I roped myself into that TT. Great to see some CCers though, definitely adds to motivation
Mine fits in a really small space. And the orange section is quickly adjustable so takes up even less room when not in use.

If I had the space, I would definitely go with Andy's option.

Apologies I've over estimated my talent time was actually 23.37 . Two plus points from tonight I wasn't last like my last event and @steverob didn't catch me up .
Got to the bottom of the climb and thought @Johnsop99 time was well within range then I hit the climb and the legs said no way . At one stage I really didn't think I would get up it the last Km went on forever .
Looking at my power was 208 and my estimated FTP is 209, so pretty good for me really .

Well that hurt! I was trying hard to take it easy on the downhill sections and not go too hard on the flats before the climb. Still blew up on the climb 🤣

I got a new FTP on intervals.icu out of it and 6W off my best 20m power of the season so went pretty deep.

Nowhere near @bridgy though and properly beaten by @mjd1988 too!

My 95% of 20m was 3.22 w/kg so I’m right on the cusp of C/B!

I was aiming for something around @CXRAndy's time but ended up somehow beating @Johnsop99 (although only by 2 seconds). Matched both of their splits on the flat, lost time on the first half of the hill, maintained my gap in the middle, then absolutely leathered the final 500 meters - looking back on Strava, I was 17 seconds down at the final split on John, so I must have done quite well (or he tired quickly).

It also helped that I did have someone to chase - in my case, over and over again. The guy you see in the video thumbnail below, every time I caught him up, he tried to accelerate away (despite him starting in front of me, so therefore I was already beating his time by being level with him). It didn't do him any good, cause I just caught him again and eventually made the pass stick on the third attempt.

Looks like a perfect C to me

Yes, I suppose that is the case. I’m probably still in the same position as last season - able to control the race in C and get dropped like a stone in B!

There’s still 6 weeks until kick off Nick don’t forget that. I’d just take your numbers now as a basis to build on over the next few weeks. Personally I don’t pay much attention to the numbers at all at this point and just consider it brushing off the cobwebs. So I think it actually bodes well if you’re already at the point you were at the end of last season.
