Just done the Bologna TT so the target time for all you other C's is 21' 35". My target was sub 21' so a bit more work needed.

Wendy and I rode the Commonwealth Games Road Race route yesterday and today - one of the roads is closed for resurfacing. Kinda feels a bit last minute!

We've seen quite a few athletes from various nations recceing the course and did a portion of the ride today with 5 Seychelles and Jersey athletes which was nice. Will probably ride the route most days this week and see who I bump into ^_^

I had a similar experience at the worlds in Yorkshire. I went in to Harrogate and road the course in the morning when it was closed to road traffic and loads of teams were out. Was a lot of fun just pootling round and soaking up some atmosphere and spotting different teams 🙂

My Mom lives on the route .... so she is planning to go out and watch the TT Thursday (?).

She lives at the bottom of Tipton Road (A457) just before they turn right onto the Brum New Road. There is a hill descent from Sedgley so they will be flying past her house.
  • Once in Sedgley, the course takes a left onto the Tipton Road (A457) and then onto the Birmingham New Road (A4123) and Priory Road (A4168), passing Priory Park and into Dudley Town Centre.

I used to do this every day, rain or shine, which was 20.4 miles each way.

Then I got a transfer to the Brampton office, which cut it down to 14.2 each way

We had a Leave Your Car At Home Day once (this was the Environment Agency, after all) and I decided in my wisdom to leave my bike at home and run to Brampton instead. I measured the route out on a map at something like 17 miles. One of my colleagues kindly gave me a lift home that night (I don't know how he got out of leaving his car at home, but I was very grateful!)

What's the longest distance someone cycled to work? My place celebrates 'cycle to work day' this Thursday so I'm considering a commute. It would be 80k one way though. Maybe drive half way and cycle from there?

I regularly ride 20km each way ( admittedly sometimes I get the train home ).

Not the greatest route but due to the traffic in Bristol its sometimes quicker than driving.
