I do 100+ pressups most days. Re squats though, I tend to just do a 100 without a break (and just body weight). I probably need to do more to up the sprinting

Yesterday was body weight being at hotel -before meal, I do barbell squats usually at home less reps 100-150.

I'll see if I can push up the reps before failure. xx(:B)

I did my first triathlon today. A ride, a run, then a bath

The squats, do you do them as one set, or go in one? If I added weight I'd have to do sets, but I like to do body weight and higher reps as I hope this gives me extra stamina too as Zwift sprints build up and can be anything up to a minute of effort

The push ups is purely for the ladies ;)

I do them in sets of 50 reps. I've done sets of 4-10 in the past, but found no real difference in strength/muscle development if the volume or work done is sufficient with lighter weight. There are quite a few videos/forums that agree that high reps give the same/similar results but with far less chance of injury

Balance of the workouts is surely beneficial. I will never be a typical cyclist shape or a body builder. These days, just want all-round strength and trying to keep muscle, not necessarily build extra bulk.

Same here ... I'm happy with an 'athletic' build. Couldn't have a whippet cyclist body, and past the age of getting a bulked up bodybuilder physique. Girls seem to like me the way I am .... so cycling to keep fit and have some fun racing, and weights to keep the guns cocked

Thanks for chipping in lads. Yeah, I'm working from home too - well, I'm at the office maybe once a month. But it's a special occasion so thought it would be fun to commute 85km  I've always toyed with the idea and stars appear to be aligning. We'll also have a 10-day cycling distance challenge starting next week. A bit of a cycling-themed month by the looks of it :becool:

@Whorty, @CXRAndy. I'm doing only 36 (6x6) squats a week. But that's with 110kg on the shoulders (only managed 80kg few weeks back).

I haven't squatted properly since Covid; stopped gym membership and home set up doesn't have a rack that would be safe to put decent weight on, couldn't get one for love nor money in early 2020. Does anyone have one they recommend? Ideally a cage with pull up bars too, trying to figure out what I could fit in garage

If i add weight to my squats, I just use dumbells ... but then I'm looking at very high reps, until they burn, rather than heavy weight low reps. I personally prefer the higher reps as Zwift racing is 50 mins plus so want the legs to get used to the lactic acid in them.

Weights still look expensive on Amazon etc ... have you tried ebay? Wouldn't surprise me if people are off loading weights now

I've ended up buying the one I linked. Very happy with it. For pull ups I use one of these:

I have this rack, different brand, identical in design
https://mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-m100-power-rack.html

I've added extra catch points for the barbell. There are some similar with cable pull attachments. Just depends on budget and room to fit. Mine fitted in a normal garage, about 4 inch from the roof beams

I got some dumbells from Decathlon last summer and they were a fair price. I think things have calmed down a bit on weights now people can go to gyms again.

Ah yes I did see that thread. Only issue with my garage is it has an automatic door which is giant and cuts out a fair bit if space. Must do some measuring

Not sure why I roped myself into that TT. Great to see some CCers though, definitely adds to motivation
