Prediction for today: UAE does exactly what they did yesterday, this time Pog properly attacks, distances Vingegaard but later blows up. Still, claws back half the deficit and we're left with 60s difference ahead of the TT.
That's what I'm thinking too, :becool: Going to be a fun stage though, I'd love to see Pog and UAE attack early, to give G a chance to cling on to the coattails, and move into second ... but that's not going to happen unless he does a "Landis" ;):rofl::rofl:

Bikes packed in the car to take the boys out for a razz around Cannock Chase... and now it's bloody raining!

It started in MK just after I put the bike back in the car after CX race. Sharp grassy climbs and descents. The people in wave 2 will have had a more slippery experience. After 2 goes I've decided it DO like it, but it's bloody hard work. I was keeping an eye on the heart rate this time and backing off when I saw 185. STILL had exactly the same overall average of 183 though which is at or slightly above my LTHR.

Ooh this is exciting. Currently topping the League Table for 50-59 wave 1 men (Mainly because people switched to wave 2 this week or didn't race last week )

I need to focus more hydration from now. Today was pretty hot day in here, I did 65km ride and avg temperature was +30°C and max temperature was +35°C. Noticed near a halfway that I am getting exhausted, lactic acid run all over my body. Few rest days are very welcome now.

Things have finally cooled down so I might go out and have a spin outside during lunch. Bought a smaller chain ring for the CX bike so need to test it ;)

I found this week that the small ring is more useful than the big ring on a twisty, climby CX course. I spent much more time on it than the big ring. Helps me better understand the modern trend for 1x chainsets.

Exactly that, Alex. Last week I must have spent 90% of time in the small ring which was a 36. Now I fitted a 46 big ring and changed the small to a 34 - this arrangement feels much, much better. I reckon the 34-25 ratio (11/25 cassette) might be to big for larger hills, but you don't really get those in CX, do you?

Also changed the cranks to 165 so it's harder to hit anything on bumps (incidentally, that probably is my size at 5ft6).

I suppose all courses are different. On the one I did there were no LONG climbs, but the short, punchy, steep, dusty ones needed a nice low gearing. (Although on slippy stuff you get better traction with a higher gear there are practical limits due to your strength).

My favourite bit of climbing was when I passed two guys at once at about 4:20 this was this week's course...

I reckon you could go lower on the chainring, there are few courses where you need to be doing 30mph downhill for long periods. 40/42 chainring would probably suffice for just about every course. A bit more clearance over log jumps or boards etc. You also don't need super low gearing too, really steep hills, its quicker to jump off and push/carry your bike.

There is no shame in pushing in CX . Just get around the fastest possible way. ^_^

Funny (not hahaha) how a day changes. Work up fresh as a daisy, by mid morning I'm sat in A&E nursing suspect fracture of the elbow 😠

Still can figure it out but opening a shed sliding door, managed to trap elbow between frame and door🤕

God it hurt, so much I felt like I was gonna xx( and pass out. I immediately onced recovered from shock, iced the joint.

5 hours later, thankfully diagnosis a bruised joint. Wife says I have a large egg swelling just above the elbow.
