Hope everyone is OK by the way and that I haven't missed too much of high importance on here - what with holidays etc. I haven't been on the forum for quite a while.

Highlight of the past few weeks was a cycling trip to the Alps with my mate Rich which included watching the TDF on Alpe d'Huez - a 50th birthday treat!

Got Covid (for the first time) quite badly about a week before we were due to go, but after a couple of rough days I thankfully recovered quickly- and just in time! It definitely made the cycling a bit harder but it's just hard in the Alps anyway isn't it?! (Good excuse though eh? ;))

Pretty epic winning 5 races in a row mate!

Unfortunately though covid isn’t as good excuse for alp d’huez results… Other non excuses include:

Getting lost at the last turning (bridgy)

Falling off while stationary half way up the hill (Adam)

Stopping for a meal half way up the hill (Andy) :headshake:

Being Bob (Bob) 😁

I rode that climb back in March. It’s is beautiful especially the bit in the middle through the trees. I nearly lost it on the descent though 😬😁

There are some steep drops over the side!!

Nearly, just not good enough. Last year a club mate did lose it on that descent, went over the edge and managed to grab a tree to stop the fall. A few bruises and some embarrassment, but otherwise all ok.

He basically cut a corner but there was a car in the way, he straightened up to miss the car and ran out of road.

That is almost the same as mine, half way down by the area where they do outside barbecue’s -braked hard and ended up sliding sideways , foot down, messed with my mind rest of trip.

I was actually quite happy with my Alpe d'Huez climb, despite the unfortunate diversion at the last roundabout! I had felt awful at the end of the previous day's riding, and was considering bailing out of doing it completely but the next morning ,once I got going, my legs did actually work better than I had expected!

There is a segment that stops at that last roundabout where I went wrong and I can report I was 4 minutes slower than Tommy and 9 minutes slower than Lee - I'll take that! (Not that it's a race 😌)

I'm really itching for a cycling holiday somewhere and all these videos/stories are great - even the falling off bits ;) Need to practice climbing more though.

I think I'll be doing a bit more CX then I thought - I seem to enjoy it. Just managed to buy a pair of 2nd-hand Hunt wheels and some better quality tyres at a discount.

Took a week off from weights and restarting today. Legs definitely feel stronger but constantly fatigued.
