Ouch, Andy, bet that smarts! Best wishes for a quick mend.

I ran my first Parkrun for six weeks today (I haven’t done anything longer than a 2km Junior Parkrun at a gentle jog since), and I only went and ‘won’ it! It wasn’t the strongest field - my time would have only earned me sixth place last week - but I’m happy to be cracking out sub-20 times again, at least. 🏃‍♂️

Well done @bridgy on the win tonight. I was pleased, and surprised, I could stay with the lead group up to the Leggsnapper but as soon as the road went up and I had no chance. The extra 5kg, plus less power, just saw me shoot out the back.

I picked up a little group of the 4 lead C riders so I surfed their wheels for the next 2 laps. I just sat in, tried not to influence their race.

Leg still not perfect. Can't sprint still, and can't stand up and pedal. Plus stamina not too great as been off the bike so long. But was really nice being able to at least attempt a race tonight and not just roll in with the D's which is what I was expecting on the start line.

Thanks Carl - good to see a friendly face on the start line! Bit flattering to win these races with not very many people in them but I'll take it!

Glad to hear you do seem to be on the mend - even if you still have some way to go

5 wins on the bounce, well done!

Great to see @Whorty getting back too.

Anyone any training plans they use looking at 5 minute power/hill climbs? Our club is doing a 6.4% 0.8mile hill climb in a few weeks. Don't think I'll race it as I have a bit too much timber, but keen to post a time for the segment at some point. Chose the NYC KOM forward which has same length and average gradient. Only difference it has banks of 17% and flat sections so was a bit pointless!
I think I'm going to have to actually ride outside to replicate it, but might be an opportunity for some structured training

Oh, is it? I hadn't noticed.... :cuppa:

I'm under no illusions that once the ZRL re-starts those wins are going to be much harder to come by ^_^

Hope everyone is OK by the way and that I haven't missed too much of high importance on here - what with holidays etc. I haven't been on the forum for quite a while.

Highlight of the past few weeks was a cycling trip to the Alps with my mate Rich which included watching the TDF on Alpe d'Huez - a 50th birthday treat!

Got Covid (for the first time) quite badly about a week before we were due to go, but after a couple of rough days I thankfully recovered quickly- and just in time! It definitely made the cycling a bit harder but it's just hard in the Alps anyway isn't it?! (Good excuse though eh? ;))

Back from holidays. Sorry to hear about your elbow @CXRAndy! Sounds a tad painful!

It was quite hot in the afternoons (32-34ºC) so was sneaking back to the room for the air con and managed to watch every stage of the Tour

You can imagine that I was pretty happy with JVG taking yellow but I was very impressed with the quality of racing all last week. Top stuff all round.

What a Tour Wout has had though - he's a machine. I do hope he wins in Paris tonight.

I have arrived home with a stinking cold. Not sure what social etiquette dictates nowadays - can I go out with a cold or not? I keep testing and so far it's not Covid but I really do fancy a pint of bitter after all that foreign muck (lager ).

Hope everyone well :okay:

Oh Paul o Paul o Paul
There is no need to blame covid anymore mate ! You’re over 50 now
It’s like a free pass
Other bonus phrases you are now allowed to use include
Speak up sonny
Do you know how old I am
My knees are telling me it’s gonna rain
A bit more lemonade in that
What did I come in here for
I remember 50p a gallon
It never done me any harm
Why do they make writing so small now
Tommy ought to be in a different age cat
Hope you had a nice time in alps - did you put a time in up alpe? Or did age contribute to getting lost ? ( tip - it’s up 🔝) 😉

On Friday we drove up Puig de San Salvador to have a look at the church thingy and the cafe and found in the Church buildings there was 6 World Championship jerseys... I have had a quick look online and they belong to this guy!

He's still alive too - 96 years old!! Quite a random find up a hill!! Here is the climb details - it was a beautiful drive up!

I rode that climb back in March. It’s is beautiful especially the bit in the middle through the trees. I nearly lost it on the descent though 😬😁
