Does anyone have an opinion on the last update. Maybe it’s harder to go past people as you approach? Or maybe I’m just finding it harder at the moment.

Have they made the sticky draft even stickier?

Fwiw I had to ride at 3.2 on Alp d zwift to get past riders at 2.5. 3w/k wasn’t enough. But then once past the distance between me and them increased pretty quickly. Conversely I found in both my rides this weekend it was easier to draft. But I wasn’t racing.

At least it seems to be sticky as before. Don't know if steering plate help any, at least that gives opportunity overtake other avatars further. Avatar's also seems to be more solid now, you can't ride thru other avatars when you takeover, now your avatar goes round.

I’ve done two or maybe three races since the update. Not really a great sample size. And also I’m struggling to find the surges in power you need to push through in general, so I’m not sure if it’s just me or not. But not by the sounds of it. As Juhal said it feels like the avatars have just become slightly more solid than they were. I can still push through a big pack , it’s not like a solid wall, but it takes longer with more effort maybe.

That’s not a complaint at all. I guess if it’s true it’s just something that needs adjusting to when you’re trying to position yourself. One example is when you’re off the back of a splitting pack. If you’re behind someone else who’s also chasing to get back on I think a big alarm bell should be going off in your head. It’s bad as it is with the sticky draft. But in this spot now I think you need to really thrash the peddles rather than hoping you’ll get pulled back on to the pack. Because you don’t just slide past people like you used to if they’re falling back. I don’t think so anyway but I might have it wrong.

Soon y'all gonna have to get steering to pass ;)
That would be fine, so long as Zwift turns the steering on. Problem is they allow every race organiser to turn steering off, and this means no races have steering allowed (except those set up by Zwift).

A real head bang against wall thing ... Zwift create functionality, then don't use it (the anti-sandbagging is the other one). Be so much better if both these functions were set for every race.

Well yesterday concludes my 9 day Endurance block. 316 miles ridden of which 263 were outside. Easier week now planned with 5 minute and 30 minute power tests planned for next Saturday and Sunday. Rest day today ^_^

Did we all exploit the lovely sunny February weather last week?
That's some serious miles Martin :notworthy: And there was me pleased going out for a 100km and a 50km in consecutive days :surrender:

As my old school teachers would say ... "Carl could try harder"

Quick straw poll lads - who has specific cycle insurance? You know the kind, £20 a month job so it covers you for theft, accidents, legal, alien abduction etc?

Reason I ask is my mate was in a collision with a car yesterday and now there is a dispute with who was at fault. His bike needs a good £500-1000 spent on it to make it rideable (and probably some X-rays on it too) and the car will need about the same spent on it. He has had to have time off work too. That wouldn't bother me as I get sick pay but in Covid times it's probably be better to have some cover.

I'll be doing about 3-4000 miles on the roads this year so I'm thinking now might be the time to get some.

Thoughts?

Specific policies are expensive. I just put bikes as named items on home insurance which is pretty cheap. I also add legal cover and third party liability, which usually adds about thirty quid a year and would be handy in this scenario.

That was my initial thought but my bike would cost £5000 to replace new for old and our household insurance won't cover it.

Pedal cover. As far as I know they’re the only people who will insure high end bikes as part of your house insurance. It’s defo much cheaper than insuring them as stand alone items. The guys who work there are all cyclists too so it’s an easy conversation. I’ve had to claim twice no problem. One time it was a pair of lightweight meilenstein which they replaced without much of a flinch. They just insure you to the value of the most expensive bike, and it’s world wide cover including high altitude which loads of policies don’t cover.
