Bought a second hand Apple TV unit earlier in the week, just given it its first outing. Worked perfectly and seemed so much easier than using the laptop.
Even gave my HRM a new battery to allow for good sync-ing.
Remote control is a slippery little thing, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Any tips when using ATV...?

Odd that they’ve only announced it for the wahoo bike. Maybe they have a deal with wahoo. Hopefully it’s not long before all the bikes get it too.

Do any of the guys who have the sterzo use it? I never hear it being talked about.

I think exclusivity for most of the other trainers is in "spring" but kickr were scheduled to be able to use it before. There was also mention of it being on veloton early but no idea what's happening with it at the min. Hopefully this will start to open it up to mass market and see if it is actually worth it

I am basing a lot of this on a comment on a dcrainmaker post from several months ago so may not be accurate

I have a tip regarding scrolling but I struggle to articulate it. But I’ll persevere!

Basically the most annoying thing about the remote is that while scrolling it skates over multiple options rather than just moving one option at a time. This means you can find yourself constantly jumping over the option you want to land on, like a really sh!t game of piggy in the middle. Thinking about it piggy in the middle is a sh|t game generally but I digress...

The way around this annoying jumping is in the way you move the invisible curser. Rather than flicking your thumb over the surface of the controller. You need to move your thumb but then leave it touching the controller, rather than lifting it off the surface. So it’s one movement, then stop, leaving your thumb touching the controller at the point you stopped.

See... I told you I was crap at explaining it. But if you can make sense of what I just said you will find that you never skate over the option you want. And the world we be a good place again!

What I fear is that zwift greed has really dulled interest in what could be a great innovation. In my opinion at least. I feel like they really needed to get as many people on board as soon as possible to make it widely used as the norm. But I hope I’m wrong.

Does steering work on other platforms or is it zwift specific?

I'm tempted to get one of these:

I ordered one of those recently @Joffey - or at least I thought I was ordering one and got four 🙈

Just a basic silicone case that I’ve found much easier to grip than the glass finish of the remote itself!

If anyone is interested in the black/green/blue then send me a PM? I’ve just looked online and can get three packets collected from me and delivered in the UK for £10 so would ask for £3.50 to my PayPal.

Unless all three go then the postage isn’t really viable, but if anyone is interested then send me a PM. Quite a few Apple TV users here so a good chance of all three going I think 🙂

i was wondering when that was coming.
zwift asked BRT to trial a "Dynamic" pack feature last weeknd on one of thier group rides, it reduced the riding through other riders meanign you could get slightly boxed in :okay:. things are changing, they have started rolling out clubs feature aswell ^_^

Not used mine in races as never sure if it's turned on by the organisers or not. If free riding I have it turned on. Be nice if it was automatically on in all races and couldn't be disabled.

It would be interesting to see what it’s like in a TTT.

Could be good for swinging off at the end of a pull, and might save a bit of the sprint effort to get back on.
Could also be good for passes, but on the other hand it might make it tricker to keep a tight line formation.

How did your team find it? I was surprised by the result - following the exceptional result last week, the fact they’re a WTRL team so presumably have some TTT experience, and of course the stellar leadership I thought we would see the wanderers further up the table to be honest?!
Well the stellar leadership was obviously a constant!

We had a couple of problems. Our 2 strongest riders were both out and they both placed top 10 last week.

Even so, we didn’t have a bad team out. We had another 2 riders who placed top 20 in race 1 and they were both in the team and the 2 guys that came in are both regular Frappe TTT riders.

We had a problem right at the start as one of our strong guys had some issues with his turbo. I’m not sure what the issue was, but he may have been stuck in ERG mode as his power and positioning was erratic throughout the race. He was slow out of the pen and we had to wait for him to get back on and even then he was bouncing around the group a bit too much.

Once we got under way, the rotation of the team was good. We were taking 30 second pulls on the front and things seemed quite smooth.

Then we temporarily lost a rider on the run in to the aqueduct with some brief outage, and then he was back with us, but 14 seconds behind. A bit of hesitation on whether we should wait for him, so we slowed again, but then decided the front 5 had to carry on. Despite that, he impressively closed the gap, so we allowed him to miss a turn! ^_^

No further issues, but we probably made an error in that we should have let the stronger riders take longer pulls on the front after the aqueduct. We did that, but not until we reached the twisty section. We dropped one rider there, but we should have picked the pace up a little bit earlier than we did.

Strange mixture in the end. Weaker team, but good rotation. A couple of problems that we took a hit on. And then a tactical error - blame the DS for that!

We should have a full strength team back for Tuesday so that’s going to be interesting. I‘m also interested to see how the TTT team goes with the 2 missing guys back in. I think they’ll make a big difference.
