BC South Christmas LIZR Series - back to where it all began https://www.zwift.com/events/view/1372102

Be great to ride with you again.... :okay:
Strange but I don't seem to be able to sign up for this ride. Link above doesn't work for me

I won't be able to ride this year, but I have great memories of the feltet series from last year. I'm assuming this is the same series?

This was my first racing series back after my cardio all clear, racing in C cat with @mjd1988 @Whorty @Brendan Parker and @Freelanderuk . I loved the team aspect of the racing and the support from feltet and the reporting of each stage was excellent.

This was also where we had the memorable mistranslation of Peterson winning a stage after he he had died. A notable achievement that was discussed in all of the following races before Peterson completed his resurrection by accidentally getting himself upgraded to B cat.

I also did the same and finished the series by being dropped in the B cat race almost straight out of the pen.

Some good memories there of a well run series.

I don’t think any CycleChatters, besides me, did the UNO-X Cup. We did the previous feltet.dk race series, but the racers and setup were more or less the same in both series.

The undead Petersen is back in C, but with the ”Almost B” warning on his profile.

Perfect - thanks. I'm in ..... let's see how much fun this can be xx(

Edit : just checked on ZP and because I haven't raced in 90 days I'm no longer in a cat ... so .... technically I could race in D for a day to take glory

As there are over 85K fit files in the queue on ZP waiting to be processed, it'll be more than a day :okay::okay: . I'm still waiting for two of my races to be processed from last Tuesday and Wednesday!!!:cursing::cursing::cursing:

What’s up with Zwiftpower then? Presumably just a rush in activities to process because of the Christmas rush?? That surprises me a little - when there are big events like the ZRL the backlog doesn’t get as big as this, they seem to be sinking further and further into a backlog?!

Anyone use a hybrid (with racing tyre) on the turbo?

Realised the old bike I'm using with its ancient pedals has probably done the damage to my foot (metataurasalgia just a couple of weeks rest should sort it) so thinking through options. Don't think I could get change pedals for the bike as it's do old and basically wrecked anyway, so options are buy a cheap road bike or see if my hybrid will do the job? No idea what cassette is on the hybrid...or even if it will fit 700c tyre

Long-term plan remains to upgrade trainer to either direct drive or smartbike but probably not going to do that for at least a few months.

Edit; also has everyone seen that the scoring system will change for zrl season 2? Extra points as far as 85th with increased intermediate points

Apparently, the software engineers are on holiday and will fix it when they get back!

Can't see why you can't get different pedals on your old road bike? If not, short term can't you find another nacker road bike for peanuts? It doesn't need to be roadworthy.

Yep, seen the new ZRL scoring. Looks better but maybe a bit over-complex this time?

Why can’t you change the pedals @mjd1988 ? What’s wrong with the current??

I would suggest clipless pedals and shoes - I don’t know many people who have switched back after starting to use them!

I'm thinking more a rust issue, as they haven't been taken off in maybe 30 years! I use clipless on my outside bike but don't like the idea of sticking it on the turbo.

Actually, given that I'll be turfing it I may as well have a lash at them

Yeah I’d say give it a go - if they come off then happy days, put pedals from best bike on there and get a new set for best bike?

If they don’t come off then glum for a couple of days and complaining to wife about not being able to ride on the turbo because the 30 year old bike is no longer fit for purpose until she suggests an N+1 solution?!:laugh:

What do people think about the new scoring in ZRL then? Whilst I think it’s good to see points down to 85th I can’t figure out what the distribution is going to be, the explanation from WTRL just says “etc” like it’s obvious but it doesn’t seem obvious to me?!

My thoughts so far:
  • It’s going to be even more important to finish with all team members (and to have a full rosta of riders - eek!)
  • Points for the fastest intermediate time seems pointless (pardon the pun). I suppose if there is a small breakaway of 2/3 riders then a chasing group behind have a double incentive to sprint, but they’d sprint anyway and will the points go to anyone outside the top ten over the line very often??
