Don’t bother with trainer tyresMichaelMichael’s friend. Normal road tyres last plenty long enough in my experience, aren’t louder unless they have a tread pattern, and have the added benefit of being suitable for outdoor riding!
It was a topic of constant discussion on the bkool thread because we all basically had the same wheel on bkool pro turbo trainer. It was quite hard to completely nail down the exact science behind the optimal tyre and psi choice, because of the somewhat inconsistent quirks of the bkool pro. But I think general consensus was turbo tyres weren't as effective as normal tyres. And getting your tyre pressure up over 130psi minimum was a must. I don’t know if it’s as important on better wheel on turbo trainers though.

SIL works in care and had the CV19 jab yesterday. Wonder what she's gonna make of this and will she tell her company so they can track herPerfect
I expect there's already an awful lot of people on zwift using trainers/power meters with similar or worse accuracy - and that's before you factor in calibration issues etc. Personally I think it's a worse problem than weight doping because it's completely hidden. But hey, it is what it is and it doesn't stop us enjoying ourselves does it?Speaking of calibrating anyone seen this?

Adapter for peloton bikes to use zwift with accuracy of +/- 10%(!)
Doubt the market for people on peloton wanting to use zwift Is that big though

Currently the only way around the problem is to get up to elite level where proper checks are put in place for everyone- and I have to accept that I probably wouldn't be able to live with those guys even on the dodgiest of bkool pros when it was on one of those days when it gave you super powers
Yes, high air pressure was essential for higher watts. Those blue Schwalbe Insider tyres were shite in that regard. Wheel-on trainers have some sort of nylon/metal roller. For some reason, BKOOL decided to make the metal one on the Pro(s) ribbed, meaning it eats tyres for breakfast and leaves a nice track of rubberdust on/behind the trainer. I found the Vredestein Senso Extreme Weather to be the best, as they could go to 8.5bar and left almost no dust, and was also the one I used outdoors until worn out and then on the BKOOL Pro. Using the SI or other indoor tyre, you could get a different color of dust at the cost of 30-50 watts.
However, I'm not sure an outdoor tyre would be optimal on trainers using a non-ribbed nylon roller?
Cycling Ireland organised a load of Zwift races at the start of lockdown and for the Cat A race they always asked the top 3 for power number verification. A mate who won got the full ZADA treatment and when it transpired he was on an Elite Muin B+ they told him that trainer wasn’t rated accurate enough and he wasnt to race again unless he dual recorded and could prove his numbers.I think weight doping winds me up more. But no doubt it’s a problem. I just try to keep telling myself the mantra: just concentrate on yourself and and you’re own numbers. Not always possible though is it...
I do find myself comparing my numbers to other neo users above other turbos. That’s not a dig at anyone else. It’s just that I know the numbers are most directly comparable to my own turbo. Where as other turbos sometimes have different numbers.
I thought certain turbos had been banned from certain races. Didn’t zwift do this themselves? Or maybe I’m imagining it... It would be useful to know what turbos people are on in a race I guess.
