#68 will have five regulars:
BurningLegs
Bobinski
Mjd1988
Ketty
BrendanParker

So one short of a full rosta and two short of optimal. Have spoken to Milzy, Steen, Del C about riding but still looking for one or two more really.

We are hoping @straas will get the racing bug after finishing the FTP builder plan 🙂

Could also try to recruit for either team on Facebook.

I could be tempted, but would struggle to commit. I tried to enter a race the other week but it was at 7pm and by the time I'd done bath bedtime etc it was 18.57 and I just couldn't get sorted in time!

My w/kg ratings aren't too high. I could maybe do 3.5w/kg for 10 mins at the moment. My club does virtual wednesday rides, but it's an hour at 3.5w/kg so I've not been on any yet.

Are you on Zwift Power?

I'm not sure if that's Cat or B numbers! @mjd1988 @BurningLegs?

Races in our region start at 19:45 so could all work out :okay:

In terms of knowing what category you could/would be, the only way to know is to register on Zwiftpower and do some races

edit - yes, only scheduled events from www.zwift.com/events are recorded on Zwiftpower, not free rides.

Yeah but there's nothing on there, I've linked my account ok because it's updated my level etc. I'm guessing training rides don't get included?

Yes it picks your best three races and assigns based on that.

Don't feel too pressurised but definitely at least try one race to see what you think. Most people tend to find they get dropped at the start as the first 3 or 4 minutes starts at a crazy pace before settling down. But you are still racing whatever people are around you anyway, it's good fun

Ermmmmm, Yeah, about that. Just what sort of power (W/Kg) and for how long would people expect to hold before it settles down??

Obvs for Cat C riders ... Real C riders! No SANDBAGGERS!

Difficult to say, will depend on strength of field, size of field, whether there is a big climb people will save themselves for.

Current c riders would have a better idea but I'd guess up to 3.5w/kg for 5 minutes in a c race wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility to get into front group? That's just a guess. I definitely put out a lot of power in the first minute and then see if I can relax/get safe in the draft

Think your maths is a bit wonky Paul.

You are classed as Cat B if 95% of your 20 minute power is 3.2 or above. So the threshold is riding at 3.37 w/kg for 20 minutes.
I'm not denying my maths is a bit wonky - but what you say there is exactly what I meant. But I obviously didn't word it clearly enough so I guess my English is a bit wonky too!

I've averaged 3.1w/kg in a 10 mile TT twice - I'd be gutted if I got bumped up to B with a marginal improvement on those TT's  - I thought it was about 3.5!!!

Edit - 3.1 is before 95% isn't it? So I'm running at 2.9 in them TT's - a good way below. Phew!!
To get bumped to B you need a 20 mins at 3.4 w/kg (so 95% of this will be the 3.2 w/kg limit) :okay:
