Anyone over in the Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Salisbury way fancy giving me a bit of a hand with route planning? My in-laws have just moved to Gillingham and I am thinking about riding to them from my place near Southampton on boxing day.

Will mean going through Salisbury towards Shaftesbury then into Gillingham. Would appreciate it if anyone near there would be so kind as to look at the route RWGPS has suggested (with a few tweaks I've made) and suggest any nice bits of road to add, or bad bits to avoid?

I don't know the area well but have ridden around Salisbury a couple of times. Personally I would avoid Salisbury and go through the New forest to fordingbridge and the head up via sixpenny Handley.

Hopefully I'll have a chance to have a look tomorrow - I live in Mere (a few miles from Gillingham). There are some nice rolling roads around here that a climber like you should have a look at

Thanks @kipster that makes sense. Having driven in/through Salisbury I can see why fordingbridge would be nicer!

I would take a bit of a detour for a recommended road @Whorty so I’m all ears (but don’t feel obliged). Not sure I fancy those switchbacks just outside Shaftesbury though - going down there is sketchy in the car!!

Hi @bridgy - Did you set up the #23 and #68 teams with WTRL? If we want a 3rd team registered do you need to do it and add me as Captain? Or can I register on my own as Manager and Captain? It says something about clubs with more than 1 team needing the same managers so I thought I'd better check.

And whilst we are talking WTRL, ZRL and a 3rd team is there anyone on here that I haven't contacted already in Cats C & D who might fancy racing in the Zwift Racing League in the new year?

Nothing too serious, just trying to make sure we have between and 6 riders 4 riders every week. More social than anything - just want a bit of fun and if the chance presents itself to score some points well we can have a go...

Let me know if you are interested and I'll add you to the chat. Ideal for people who can't really commit every week or have never done something like this before. It's quite good once you get into it!

Brendan and Alan registered the teams as captains and put me down as manager for both. If you need to put a separate name down as manager I'm happy for you to put me to keep things consistent. To be honest don't really know what role the manager has as far as WTRL are concerned- it's not like I receive the race sign on emails or anything!

So I don't mind either way

Edit: I guess our zwiftpower CycleChat team is considered one club with separate teams within it so on that basis may need to have the same manager for each - which as I say I'm fine with if required

So one short of a full rosta and two short of optimal. Have spoken to Milzy, Steen, Del C about riding but still looking for one or two more really.

We are hoping @straas will get the racing bug after finishing the FTP builder plan 🙂

At the risk of bleating on , if no one gives you a definite route , you could use cycle.travel
Takes you on quietest routes used by other cyclists - just put in start and finish , click paved only and away you go. Never let me down

Maybe lee drops back in too. I think that probably falls into the grey area of the rules criteria though. I’m not sure about recruiting people. Could be a bit hit and miss but 🤷‍♂️
