Yeah fantastic performance from Pete to take 2nd place, Tommy top 15 and Bridgy 23rd. I was in a group fighting for scraps but didn’t have any legs left for a sprint and finished 35th a few seconds ahead of a group with Norry and Andy. Looks like we are good for 2nd place this evening which means a night off next Tuesday 😙

I didn’t change my tag in Zwiftpower 🤦‍♂️

Fortunately though it’s had the effect of allocating me to a different team in our league and their entire team have now been DQ’d

So hopefully this makes it more likely WTRL will tweak my tag and allocate my points to our team. Not my brightest moment!

I can’t believe I stayed with the front group to be honest. My confidence was at a pretty low point, I didn’t have a very good race a few days ago, and my legs felt dead for most of the race. It’s my lowest result in the whole league and it’s the only one I’m actually completely happy with. Go figure...

Well done tonight everyone 👍👍

I wish I could be more judgemental towards you both :headshake:

To be fair mate, you’ve seen how bad my typing is here and via text message. As team manager it is probably at least 50% your fault I got my tag wrong!

Tonight's Team #68 video is finally here...

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iszajvs3s4c

Mainly following @BurningLegs or @mjd1988 for most of the race, depending on who was nearer the front, although I do jump around occasionally to scout out which groups are ahead/behind of our guys.

Once the leaders finish however, do stay tuned because I eventually (it takes me a minute or so to work out how to do it) switch views so you can see @Ketty, @bobinski and @Joffey all cross the line - every point is important after all!

Great work @steverob - and as well as this you were constantly giving time gaps to groups ahead and behind and information about the profile ahead - really really helpful.

Great to have these videos. I think the roundabout on the KOM was when I realised I was on fumes, but did all come together briefly.

Couple of things you observed at the time- @BurningLegs was pretty much the only person without a powerup when that last ramp hit, unlucky.

And again, crazy how many people don't supertuck!

Big Tom was back in the fold for this race, so we thanked Nick for his great contribution as deputy and welcomed Tommy back. This was a big race; if we performed well we could seal the League Championship on the night and make next week’s TTT a victory procession which sounded appealing.

There were no technical glitches and all 6 of us were lined up in the pens ready to go. We were racing on the Harrogate UCI World Championships course which is very lumpy. The flag dropped and it was straight into the Otley Road climb which is 1.8kms long and 3.1% average.

Unfortunately my PC wouldn’t record the race so this report will be much shorter as my memory is never very detailed after races.

I dropped into about 90th of 118 but advanced upto 70th as the climb progressed. It unwound a bit on the false flat at the top and a large front group split off. 4 of the #23ers were in it but Andy and I were just caught out behind. I had been fairly pleased with my start but it was still not quite good enough. Checking my stats I got a PB up the climb and was only 4-5 seconds slower than the leaders but that was enough to allow the elastic to snap.

There are a few opportunities to use the supertuck on this course and I made full use of these. It ruins your average power stats but give you really welcome mini rests before the next inevitable climb.

Andy and I then had very similar races and were in the same group(s) throughout. We were mopping up stragglers fairly regularly and our positions improved a bit. At the end of the first lap the tickertape started and I’d done a PB – which was 40 seconds faster than my previous best and I was feeling okay.

The second lap was much of the same and as the lap progressed Andy and I were getting closer to the magic 30th place where points start. Was it possible?

For a second lap I was pleased with our pace (and again checking the stats it seems our second lap was only 13 seconds slower than lap one.) Our group was moving fast and were seeing some big groups just up the road. Unfortunately the race finished a mile or two too soon and we didn’t quite get up to the point scoring positions. Andy had (as usual) a better finishing kick than me and came in 47th, 3 seconds ahead of me in 54th. There was a string of finishers ahead down to 27th (36 seconds ahead).

Pete is on a roll at the minute and racing really well. He came in second but also got 19 bonus points which is phenomenal. Tommy came in a great 14th. Paul got a creditable 23rd. Al was only just out of the points in 35th so overall a very respectable performance by the whole team. Champagne ready for next week?

@peterob - :notworthy: amazing performance last night!

@Norry1 if using the super tuck- which I did at every opportunity I had - mucks up your average power then my average of 300w which is about as high as it gets for me in a race of that length, just shows how deep I had to go when I was pedalling!

I was up in the front group with Tommy and Pete until the final climb of the KOM I think. That hill hurt! I had my head down, not looking at the screen and when I looked up there was a split and by the top I was in a group of 3. I nearly won our sprint finish but just got pipped on the line by one of the others who timed it slightly better than me.

I've really enjoyed thos league- great teamwork and camaraderie. And I'm so pleased we managed to bring home the win of our division- awesome result :wahhey:
