Nice time and great power👍

poor one for me. I have only ridden once in about 9 days for various reasons and I struggled. 1min slower and 20 watts average lower than same ride 8 weeks ago. I really felt I had let the team down. New HR threshold of 163 and I hit 181 at one point so I can’t even say I was fatigued 😀 Just a poor day at the TTT office.
That's a shame Bob - it happens though. I'm actually lucky to be having a bit of a streak of decent form (based on average power at least) but I have definitley had days like that myself - think I lasted about 7 minutes in one of the TTT's before getting comprehensively dropped! Hopefully your form will pick back up quickly

How are you getting on with the Tacx bike @bobinski ? How do you find it compares to the Neo you were using?

I love it. I worried about the lack of movement compared to the NEO. It is heavy and completely rigid but I have got used to it for rides up to 2 and a bit hours. I just have to remember to get out of the saddle and shake out the legs and weedy upper body every now and again. It’s almost silent except for an occasional whoosh noise every revolution that suggests the belt may be rubbing. This can be evidence of the real weakness in the bike which is the choice of belt and tension issues in the pulley system but Tommy knows more about that. I am hanging onto the NEO just a little longer just in case the belt goes and I am without a trainer. The problem seems to afflict the first production batch so hopefully not an issue now.

So as much as I've wanted to spend a week or two climbing, finding the block of time is bloody hard. So I've just been racing.

Monday's race was awful, I felt fine in the pens, but as soon as we started I felt like I wasn't able to get enough air into my lungs. My HR was much lower than I would have expected given the effort and I had to let the fast group go without even hanging on for a lap. My finish ranking was pathetic (12/14 on ZP)... It reminded me a lot of what happens when I go too hard at the start of the littlec climb IRL so I made a note to warm up better next time. It was only hours after the race was over that I realized that was my first race on new BP meds.

Tuesday I did a slightly better warm-up, but held back on the effort knowing it'd be a notably longer race than I've typically been doing and lost the lead pack on the little climb out of saddle springs. Still felt like I wasn't getting enough air for a while, but I was able to push through it and get things under control. Finished in the bottom half (48/66), but felt better about the effort. Biggest downer was my foot hurt like hell for the last 20 minutes or so, fck gout.

Thursday I did the short race and made even more of an effort to warm up properly. Still some issues sucking in air, but they abated quicker. I still lost the fast group early, but was able to stick with a following pack and finished 12th of 27 on ZP.

Bonus short race on Friday. Had a full 10 minutes to warm up and it seemed to help. Stuck with the leaders for the full 10 laps, even after a brief panic when the apple-tv wanted me to sign-in again. Thankfully I had the remote handy and could quickly click "not now" and hadn't lost the group. Stuck with the fast boys for the entire race. Back on the bell lap course, meaning there's nowhere near enough road after the final turn to make up spots. I was near the back of the lead pack on the next to last turn when I hit my aero and ramped up the power. Slowly worked my way through the field, but ran out of road before I could catch the 3 leaders. Lots of DQs and wrong groups and I ended up 2/8 on ZP.

I expect next week will be more of same....

Looking forward to ZA this year. I think the plan will be to use the groups rides as sweet spot training mixed in with the official workouts. If time/schedules permit I'll probably try to do some of the races too.

Random question, anyone ever get a sports massage? Having a bit of back/rotator cuff pain
I've been to a sports physio. The massage was quite intense for my right leg issue. We both got that diagnosis wrong though.

I thought it was a pulled muscle, she thought it maybe a back issue. Turned out to be a blood flow problem. Although there was a back problem that the osteopath sorted, so not fully wrong.

It still cost me a year off of the bike :cursing:
No but I swear by an occasional chiropractor visit. Massage is part of the treatment along with acupuncture and adjustments. It’s like magic!
I go to an osteopath and have used the same practice for about 30 years for various issues. I seem to need adjustment around every 18 mohths. Rarely need a second or 3rd visit for the same problem.

Massage, acupuncture and manipulation to free locked joints can be painful but rewarding for the gain in mobility.:B)
