That was one of the shortest TTT courses we’ve used. They’re normally at least 40 minutes and longer. Next week is 3 times round the Jungle, so that’s going to be a real test. The courses are a good mix between flat and fast and more rolling routes.Sounds like there was some good on the spot decision making going on to salvage a good time from what could have been a disaster, so nice one!
For me, it was a great workout. Only a 30min effort but my legs were aching this morning. I wasn’t quite expecting that!!
That was the shortest event I’ve done by a long way, and wasn’t sure how I’d go but thought that for a 30min effort I might be able to get my avg power up to 4.5w/kg. As it turned out my avg power was 3.8w/kg - lower than any other event I’ve done recently (which were all significantly longer).
So frankly disappointed with my own performance.
One thing that didn’t help was missing the countdown to our start time on discord. Not sure what happened - could hear other team members panting etc but no countdown which meant I had to sprint out of the pens to get on.
As a team, I’d say the performance was much better than my own. Time was 33:03 which placed us 30/142 in Frappe class. I think that’s respectable, especially considering we started one rider down. We finished with four riders and I was fifth across the line - I sat up with approx 2KM remaining.
Overall I enjoyed it but room for improvement and would prefer a longer course (I think!). It seems to be very well organised and a significant step up from “normal” Zwift races in terms of competitiveness and professionalism all round.
Glad you enjoyed it. They are well run. And as @bobinski said they are addictive.
