I think Iā€™d prefer to use the term, ā€˜educated guessā€™. But maybe with more emphasis on the word guess? šŸ˜

I think the good thing about this particular format is that itā€™s not a team event but it has a team element. So even if the timings are shocking, at least you can have an inter category battle for bragging rights. Or on a good day with the timings on your side you can get the team thing going too.

This is true, it kind of naturally corrects itself; If a group is way ahead someone who doesn't have a great sprint could be minded to attack and then splinter a group to the point that groups behind could catch. Also if you know you are definitely going to be caught you can give yourself a relative breather and maybe burn less matches and hold onto the catching group

Definetly adds an element to the TTT.

Absolutely. Iā€™ve still got that favour to repay when you paced me round Yorkshire.
No worries Tim - I love riding as a team so it was a pleasure to ride with you

unfortunately it might be the Keith hill after party as Iā€™m on holiday next week. A cracking course to finish the series.

wonder what the early autumn series will be?!
With your climbing legs, if we can get you to the base of the hill in the lead group you'll have a great chance to take that stage :okay: Lot of heavy guys in IRL C who don't climb so well

I think given I've missed a couple of stages and the 2 in front are too far away, the best I can do is 3rd now so happy to be a disrupter to see who wants to play chase

Looks like I'm not heading back to D, even after the 90 days are up (and that's probably a good thing). Entered the same race series that was the one that tipped me over into C two weeks ago and got another slight increase in FTP (now 2.517 w/kg!) - still a long way to go, but at least it's progress.

21 starters, 14 finishers, 7 on ZwiftPower - finished 6th. Three laps of Classique Reverse and had hoped to stay with the lead pack until at least the climb up to Trafalgar Square, but after successfully making the initial break, I got spit out the back on the small rise just after 1km. Tried to get back in touch on the downhill through the tunnel, but with no draft (compared to the group of 12 ahead all working together) even sprinting was only good enough to maintain the gap as it was - just not possible to close it. Didn't sit up though and eventually one other rider caught me up and we worked well together to increase the distance over anyone behind us, although it turned out he was the last legit C rider on the road, so essentially we were battling for last.

We did manage to catch a few riders who had been shelled from the lead group on the 2nd lap (all non-ZP though) and rode as a five for half a lap, before one of them decided to try to breakaway as we crossed the line with one lap to go. I followed but couldn't quite keep up with him, but that was enough for me to break clear of the other two (including the other C) which was good in some respects, but I'd kind of been looking forward to a sprint finish to test myself and now I was going to finish solo! Rode hard enough for the remainder to make sure that no one was going to catch up to me and crossed the line about 3 minutes down on the winner.

I'm so tempted to attack again on Monday and see who follows. With the sprint being on an incline that continues after the banner this could be an opportunity - will depend on the size of the 'blob' as too big and no chance to break away; it might be a laugh trying ^_^ What could possibly go wrong

And it's good exercise :training:

Go for it @Whorty you have the power... šŸ‘

Not sure about that, but I do like to try and have a go .... right up until I pop  I think the IRL guys will be waiting for me to try this and some will go with me so could make the race interesting. I don't have a big sprint or the power to drop the bigger guys in the last km so on these flatter races trying to stress them out early and often is my best chance :okay:

Absolutely has the power. That distance between the banner and the arc is where it will be won, hammer that each time and recover downhill. Also pushing out the tunnel will be key, as you kept reminding me on Tuesday night!
LOL - I thought I was talking to the whole team  Glad at least one person heard me

Am I right in thinking you canā€™t ride the route in open world as itā€™s event only? Whatā€™s the hill element, want to give it a go and see what itā€™s like.

The blob should be in tact at that point so it will be a straight race up.

I need to remember not to do too much outside on the Sunday.

in some respects would be good to start the series again as Iā€™m convinced you could have won it if you had made all the events and notdropped back in Yorkshire to help me.

I'm thinking the same .... sprint through the banner and try to keep pushing on, hoping that others drop their power once the sprint is over. A few of us may be able to make a break, but if not it will at least make everyone nervous on the next lap ^_^

On the last stage it's Keith Hill I think, so a good old climb. For me it will be wheelsucking on the flats for that course, wait for the hill, and hope I can work with you to put some pressure on the heavier guys.

A bit of politics but something that benefits us all;

Although Iā€™m in favour of this, I can just hear the motoring lobby now warning about increased insurance premiums for drivers!

Iā€™d also expect (most of) the press to whip up a frenzy about red light jumping, one way ignoring, menace cyclists being above the law when they donā€™t even pay road tax šŸ™„

If itā€™s ever going to happen there might not be a better moment of opportunity than right now.

Ive signed upto this.

Presumed liability works well in some European countries.

Trouble is I've signed several of these over the years. Until we get a monumental change of policy to sustainable transport it probably won't happen.

The current covid pandemic has highlighted how folk are willing to use walking and cycling to get about locally. There were new cycle lanes quickly erected, but now they're being removed to pacify the angry drivers who are impeded

Hows about another race in similar fashion to earlier in the week? Will we say Weds 9th September (Without wishing to Sound like Iā€™m avoiding a poll )? I think we were all happy with a fortnightly event, and we dodged Wednesday at the last moment this week. Having said that the race this week was good fun so weekly is an option for me.

Thoughts on course and distance? Personally Iā€™d prefer changing the course rather than always doing the same one. We should be able to use this weeks time gaps and adjust based on distance etc.

Yup, I'm game. Happy to do whatever course is decided and Wednesday every 2 weeks is good for me :okay:
