I don’t think I’ll be back to the CC rides until September.

Club TT on Tuesday evenings runs through until the end of August and like @bobinski I’d rather take Wednesday as a rest day before the TTT on Thursday.

Ive signed upto this.

Presumed liability works well in some European countries.

Trouble is I've signed several of these over the years. Until we get a monumental change of policy to sustainable transport it probably won't happen.

The current covid pandemic has highlighted how folk are willing to use walking and cycling to get about locally. There were new cycle lanes quickly erected, but now they're being removed to pacify the angry drivers who are impeded
With the limited time I've spent there I was extremely impressed with the cycling infrastructure in the UK. You are decades ahead of the US. There's always room for improvement but you should be proud.

How did you do yesterday Del?
Interesting ride.

We decided to experiment in taking 1 minute pulls each on the front, trying to aim for about 4.2w/kg each and then drop to the back and rest. The word was not to try and overtake the guy on the front. One of our team seemed to find that a bit hard and decided to spend most of the time in front of me when it was my turn.

Anyhow, we started ok, but managed to drop our young lad, so one of our guys went back to pace him back on and had an internet glitch and found he was around 15 seconds behind. He was ok after that, so we then split into 2 groups of 4. 2 more dropped back to help the other 2 pace back on, and the other 4 of us rode about 90% pace.

We were back together by the aqueduct, and then all ok until about 4.5k out where our young lad dropped off again and told us to go on. At 3k, we overtook another team, except their front two saw us coming and upped their pace, which meant 2 of us at the back of the group got caught in their sticky draft. Stupid move as they managed to drop 2 of their own riders in the process.

5 of our team were through cleanly, so I just shouted to them to go on, while the 2 of us left ended up caught up in the other team all the way to the line.

Team finished in 35.02 in 99th place in Frappe out of 142. I was 25 seconds back with our other rider. Considering all the problems we had that was an amazingly good time. We were actually working well when we were together. Unfortunately, we weren't together that much for quite a lot of the ride, or we had problems with idiots who don't follow the rules!

We're going to try the same tactics next week, but hopefully we'll execute a bit better. But next week's course is 3 loops of the Jungle, so who know's what's going to happen there?

How did you guys get on? Haven't seen a first TTT report from @BurningLegs yet!

Yep. I had to wear slippers for 4 weeks, normal shoes were a no go.

Allopurinol 300 mg👍
Unfortunately allopurinol can't be taken with lisinopril. So the first step is to change the BP meds. I'm pushing for losartan which is supposed to be just as effective as lisinopril, but also reduces uric acid.

Overall Randy, you're right. I have however seen some wonderful cycle/walk lanes on rider posting from the USA. I remember one particular, she lived near 'Metropolis' yes superman fame IL. There there were tens of miles of wide paved routes.

Maybe the 4.2 W/kg was just a tad ambitious. If you tried 4W and stay together, would that not help the blob speed stay higher?

Numbers increase speed:okay:

Sounds like there was some good on the spot decision making going on to salvage a good time from what could have been a disaster, so nice one! :okay:

For me, it was a great workout. Only a 30min effort but my legs were aching this morning. I wasn’t quite expecting that!!

That was the shortest event I’ve done by a long way, and wasn’t sure how I’d go but thought that for a 30min effort I might be able to get my avg power up to 4.5w/kg. As it turned out my avg power was 3.8w/kg - lower than any other event I’ve done recently (which were all significantly longer).

So frankly disappointed with my own performance.

One thing that didn’t help was missing the countdown to our start time on discord. Not sure what happened - could hear other team members panting etc but no countdown which meant I had to sprint out of the pens to get on.

As a team, I’d say the performance was much better than my own. Time was 33:03 which placed us 30/142 in Frappe class. I think that’s respectable, especially considering we started one rider down. We finished with four riders and I was fifth across the line - I sat up with approx 2KM remaining.

Overall I enjoyed it but room for improvement and would prefer a longer course (I think!). It seems to be very well organised and a significant step up from “normal” Zwift races in terms of competitiveness and professionalism all round.

34.34 for us in Latte 😁
I had warmed up but wasn’t really ready for the pace of the start and struggled as the big watts boys pulled away but managed to get back on. I had messed up the previous week and let them down so wanted to put in an effort and we were fired up to get in the PL. we rotated nicely for the 1st 1/2 with me taking front to pace us over the lumps and then under the watchful eye and shouting mouth of our DS our top B took long stints at the front on the flat dragging us to the finish. I tried to help with the odd turn at the front when he needed a rest. But boy was I struggling. We had already over taken 2 teams and with 4km to go another was 40s ahead. Having a target to aim for helped and we dug deep and crossed the line just behind them. I was genuinely shattered.and nowt left to give. PL next week on a course that suits us lighter types.

Team captain called it as 4.2 to 4.5 w/kg for a minute each and then drop back and rest. I agree with you. I thought it was ambitious. I’d thought I might end up taking a rest by the side of the road after my turn! 😂

We must have started fast on a flat course with some rolling bits, as I think that’s why we dropped the young lad. That didn’t really do the team a lot of favours in the long run.

We have some heavy guys in our team, 90-100 kilo’s so we often mess up power and speed between us. This time we managed to get faster in the final 3rd partly because it was flat but also because us lighter riders were instructed not to pull away on the lumps and the climb to the viaduct. So, we benefited from 6 of us working together to the end. It’s a great team. Lots of bants , fwiw, on messenger and then on dischord during the ride.2 of us got ftp increases which says it all really.
