Maybe tomorrow will suit better, 5 is a bit close to bedtime for the baby, I'll decide once she has her nap (or doesn't, as is often the case!)

I tried RGT once and really didn't like it, as I think @Del C said, I tried ventoux and found it very dull. My graphics card is a bit crap so I think zwift probably suits it in that way, maybe if I had an upgrade I'd be more wowed. I also didn't feel like I was going uphill? Everything looked like a false flat. Might give it another go sometime.

no worries. I think i will go for an outdoor cycle today. It’s nice and warm here but we have rain forecast for the full weekend.

Carl,
Why not ride to a training plan? You know I will recommend SF but that’s as much it being a change of scenery and expectation and not feeling you have to race.
I did think about that, but the problem with workouts is you have to stick to the plan which I can't always commit to, and the workouts themselves are hard (quite rightly) and I need to be careful that I'm not too knackered when I get off the bike. I just think for the next year or so I need to just try to enjoy my riding without putting too much pressure on myself. It would be better if we can get the carers back working again so we'll see what happens once i get that support back on board :okay:

The thought of doing a training plan this time of year xx(

It’s the curse of riding on the turbo that your activity is dominated by numbers. Maybe get out on that nice bike if yours when you get the chance Carl. Just pootle mate. It’s such cheap therapy.
You are right - wanted to get out today but currently sitting in waiting for nurses to turn up - been waiting since 9 this morning :banghead:No idea when they'll be here so I can't leave the house. Oh well, I'll get on the turbo again for a little pootle.

I would agree with Sir Bob about Sufferfest and would recommend giving the 4dp full frontal test a go so you can view your rider type and profile.
From this you can focus on your weaknesses/and or strengths and then do a workout based around your profile numbers.
The videos are varied and either takes you up some iconic mountain rides or puts you in a race scenario which keeps it interesting.
They are doing generous trial promotions at the mo and you never know it might bring back your mojo.

All the plans have the option to vary intensity, you have light weeks etc. You miss one it’s not a disaster and they make that very clear. I suggested it because as you rightly say it’s tricky to get out especially for long enough. Also, with the videos and the music and the humour they can be quite a blast.

I haven't used the sufferfest in ages but it is very effective, might be a useful change of pace if fulgaz, rgt etc don't do it for you.

Change of plans - gonna ride the 3R Innsbruckring Flat Race at 15:05... :okay:

I'm learning quickly in Zwift that if you start slow then you've had it. Totally messed up the start & ended up mid-field in a small group who worked well together until the climb on the final lap.

I do enjoy Innsbruckring though good mix of flat with that short, steep climb, which I didn't find too bad.

Consistent stats on Zwiftpower with a 2.9w/kg & an average speed of 36.9 km/h on Strava... 👍

Not me ... I've cancelled my Zwift for now (runs out in 3 weeks) as just struggling at the moment with racing and putting out full efforts with everything going. i'll come back maybe in the winter but for now I'm going to ride video courses (still trying out FulGaz on free trial but might switch to BRVR) - hoping this will help me get some motivation back.

Before I tried Zwift I was using Kinomap which has a vast amount of video rides to do from around the world, varying in length & difficulty, but too be honest I found them a bit boring.

The start is everything. My biggest sprints are 5 seconds before the race starts and 5 seconds before it ends!

"only" 18 degrees here (outside anyway) so probably a bit of a competitive advantage on some, but still very humid and generally horrible.

7/29 on zwiftpower. Again raw power not really reflective of standings, drafting on my limit rather than attacking. Volcano flat is a horrible course with nowhere to hide.

All groups starting together are a bit of a nightmare aren't they? Weirdly (because it was so flat) we stayed together a long time - there was a massive peloton for ages that would chuck out maybe one or 2 people per km (c riders first then b and A's).

For the last lap I was chucked out in a group of 5 and shamelessly drafting, again out of necessity rather than believing I was going to outsprint then all.
