Anyone racing this evening?
Recovery day for me today!

I assume everyone got a survey invite from Zwift today?

I don’t usually do that type of thing butI did this one because the questions might give some insight into what they’re planning. Almost all the questions about hardware - what trainer, pedals, do you have a fan, do you have a table, what accessories do you use, how many bottles do you use on the bike etc. Also asked whether I’m confident changing a cassette and own a lock-ring and chain whip.

Seemed certain to me that the survey was to assist them in planning their hardware options. Guess they’re probably considering whether to offer wheel-on, direct drive, dedicated bike or a combination!

I don't think I got that (although I now realise I did get an invite to try the boost function!)

Very interesting. Although they'll probably just realise that there's a gap in the market for tables

Not me ... I've cancelled my Zwift for now (runs out in 3 weeks) as just struggling at the moment with racing and putting out full efforts with everything going. i'll come back maybe in the winter but for now I'm going to ride video courses (still trying out FulGaz on free trial but might switch to BRVR) - hoping this will help me get some motivation back.

Fair enough, hope mixing it up a bit helps with the motivation

What is your early impression of FulGaz?
I tried RGT a couple of days ago. Chased down what I thought was another human being only to find it was a bot 😞 Graphics were sound and good enough for some different roads to try but I’d have a concern that I would miss the lack of social element or others to race against. I have also set the wife up on RGT - she was giving out the other day cosshe kept having wifi/ connection drop outs.

It's always good to try something different, best motivation boost you can have irl ride but you obviously do that when you can

Well my fellow TTTers!

How hot was that? I outdid @BurningLegs tonight with my incredible fan set-up.

Moved the adjustable fan (you can adjust its height) behind me. Put a portable fan on the shelf next to the TV in front of me, pointing at my head. Put a bucket of ice in front of the turbo fan on the floor, to try and cool the air blowing at my body.

Something must have worked. I got round ok and finished with the group in 42.54 on the Watopia Magnificent 8 course.
Mine went pretty badly for me - the team did well! I changed to a team in the Frappe category which in theory would have been easier but the heat got to me and I only made it about 7.5km in before getting dropped on the climb. Basically, I did a big hard turn on the front just before we started the climb and then one of the strongest riders hit the hill really hard - I just didn't have it in me to put the effort in to stay with them and that was that. Need a rest for a day or two I think.

The rest of the team (down to 6 as we lost another rider with connection issues) managed a very creditable 40:24

Very mixed feelings about RGT.

The first course I rode was Port de Pollensa to the Lighthouse and the graphics were stunning. I could have believed I was riding along the sea front and up to the first car park.

Then I rode a practice TT event with some of my road club mates and it was dull as hell. It was the gpx of our 10 mile TT course, but the graphics were just a very long causeway with water either side. Suddenly everyone else in the TT disappeared and I was riding alone, my bike was doing all sorts of weird sideways manoeuvres and at one time the bottom half of my wheels and my legs disappeared into the road, Bkool stylee!

Finally I rode up Ventoux, the bottom at Malaucene was ok, but as I rode up the mountain it was just monotonous scenery and nothing like what I remembered of the real climb. Half way up the climb my avatar came to a halt and refused to go anywhere, so I bailed out.

I also rode some of the Paterberg and the Canary Wharf crit circuit. Graphics were ok, but I found both quite dull.

Like you, the biggest thing I noticed was the lack of other riders and that leads to lack of variety of rides. Since that initial few rides back at the start of lockdown, I haven't used it and haven't been tempted to. I also found the fact that you're forced to use the mobile app to enter any course or race and as a game controller quite irritating and heavy on battery usage.
